ביממה האחרונה שטפו את כלי התקשורת בישראל ובעולם כותרות זועקות על "מצור" שמתנחלים מטילים כביכול על הכפר קוסרה. התמונות הללו, שמהדהדות במהירות בעולם ויוצרות מפגן של הכפשה נגד מדינת ישראל, הן חלק ממכונת שיווק משומנת.
השמאל הישראלי והעולמי הפכו לאלופי העולם במיתוג; תחת מעטפת של "תרבות ווק" הם מצליחים פעם אחר פעם להפוך את הרודפים לנרדפים ואת האכזריים למסכנים. ראינו את זה בעלילת ה"רעב בעזה", וכעת אנחנו רואים את אותו מודל בדיוק פועל ביהודה ושומרון.
כדי להבין מה באמת קורה בשטח, צריך להביט על התהליך האסטרטגי שעבר האזור. אחרי 30 שנה של תרבות מגננה והכלה, ירושה של הסכמי אוסלו שבהם היהודים היו מכונסים בתוך גדרות היישובים ומאחורי בטונדות בצירים, חל מהפך.

אז למה העולם רואה "מצור"? כי התמונות המופצות בתקשורת העולמית הן מודל 2026 של שקר הרעב בעזה. מדובר בסרט שמראים לנו תמיד מהאמצע, תוך התמקדות רק בסצנה שבוחר הבמאי הפרוגרסיבי. המצלמה לעולם לא תראה את המערכה הראשונה: את הפורעים מהכפרים שיוצאים להתגרות ברועי הצאן, את הניסיונות לפגוע בחוות ואת האיומים היומיומיים על חיי היהודים במרחב.

קוצרא אינה סתם כפר ערבי מבודד שנפגע לפתע מיהודים פורעים. במשך שנים היה קוצרא מקור לאירועים אלימים חוזרים ונשנים נגד מטיילים יהודים, רועי צאן ויישובים סמוכים, ובהם ניסיונות לינץ', הצבת דוקרנים בכבישים, תקיפות נהגים יהודים, יידוי אבנים, מטעני חבלה ותקיפות נוספות.
העימות הנוכחי קשור גם למאבק רחב יותר על השליטה בג'בל עין עינא, רכס בעל חשיבות אסטרטגית המשקיף על גוש שילה.
על פי דיווחיו של הפעיל אלישע ירד, הרשות הפלסטינית ומועצות הכפרים הסובבים משקיעות במשך שנים מאמצים בקידום סלילת דרכים, בנייה ופעילות חקלאית שנועדו להרחיב את השליטה הערבית על ההר.
לפני כשמונה חודשים הקימו משפחות וצעירים יהודים את גבעת תל תלפיות על הרכס, ובכך חסמו למעשה את המשך ההתרחבות הערבית הזו.
מאז, על פי ירד, תושבים ורועי צאן באזור מתמודדים עם תקיפות חוזרות ונשנות.
אחד האנשים המוצגים כיום כאחד הקורבנות המרכזיים של "אלימות המתנחלים" הוא קוסאי אבו רידי, שביתו נמצא מחוץ לשטח הבנוי של קוצרא, על מדרונות ההר.

גרונר טוען כי מקרים אלה הם חלק מרשת רחבה יותר של פעילים ערבים-אמריקאים המשתמשים באזרחות האמריקאית שלהם ובגישה לפקידים אמריקאים כדי להפוך סכסוכי קרקעות מקומיים לבינלאומיים ולקדם את הנרטיב של "אלימות המתנחלים", בעוד שהאלימות המופנית כלפי תושבים יהודים זוכה לתשומת לב מועטה בהרבה.

הסוגיה אינה האם כל מעשה שביצע כל תושב יהודי ביהודה ושומרון מוצדק. ברור שלא.
השאלה היא האם הטענות בדבר "אלימות מתנחלים" נבחנות באותה מידה של ספקנות, הקשר וביקורתיות שעיתונאים ודיפלומטים היו מפעילים כלפי כל טענה פוליטית טעונה אחרת.
בקוצרא, ההקשר החסר הוא משמעותי: שנים של אלימות שיצאה מן הכפר, מאבק אסטרטגי מתמשך על הקרקע, טענות מתועדות נגד חלק מהאנשים המוצגים כעת כקורבנות, ומאמץ מאורגן להפעיל לחץ פוליטי אמריקאי על הסכסוך.

The situation on the ground in Judea and Samaria is undergoing a strategic transformation—from a policy of staying behind the fence to an active presence in the field. The lone ranches have shifted the line of friction from the gates of Israeli communities to the outskirts of hostile Arab villages. The latest spin in the campaign against the Jewish communities demonstrates that this is a battle over the truth, against progressive branding that presents the world with a film that begins only in the middle.
Over the past 24 hours, Israeli and international media outlets have been flooded with sensational headlines about a “siege” supposedly imposed by settlers on the village of Qusra. These images, which rapidly reverberate around the world and create a spectacle of defamation against the State of Israel, are part of a well-oiled marketing machine.
The Israeli and global Left have become masters of branding. Under the banner of “woke culture,” they repeatedly succeed in portraying the aggressors as the victims and the brutal as the helpless. We saw it with the narrative of the “famine in Gaza,” and now we are seeing precisely the same model operating in Judea and Samaria.
To understand what is really happening on the ground, one must look at the strategic process the region has undergone. After 30 years of a culture of defensive containment, inherited from the Oslo Accords—in which Jews were concentrated behind the fences of their communities and behind concrete barriers along the roads—a transformation has taken place.
The fundamental change is the shifting of the “line of contact.” In the past, friction took place at the gates of Jewish communities, at bus stops, or along the edges of major roads. That was where Arab rioters and terrorists felt free to move around, attack, and spread fear. Today, the reality is different: the line of friction has moved from the edges of our roads to the boundaries of Arab villages.
The central instrument in this change has been the establishment of dozens of “lone ranches” throughout the open areas, modeled on the ranches established by Ariel Sharon in the Negev during the 1990s. These ranches demonstrate a Jewish presence on the ground and effectively create a security belt, or “yellow line,” that pushes the Arab danger farther away from civilians in the older communities. Similar to the operational model in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria, a security buffer has been created in Judea and Samaria as well—one that prevents the Arab enemy from reaching the first line of Jewish homes.
It is important to remember whom we are dealing with: the majority of Arabs in Judea and Samaria support Hamas. These are the same people who celebrated the horrific massacre of October 7. Had they been given the opportunity to repeat the atrocities of Be’eri in the communities along the mountain ridge or in Bat Hefer, they would not hesitate for a moment.
So why does the world see a “siege”? Because the images being circulated by the international media are the 2026 version of the Gaza famine lie. It is a film that is always shown to us from the middle, focusing only on the scene chosen by the progressive director. The camera will never show the first act: the Arab rioters from the villages who set out to provoke the Jewish shepherds, the attempts to attack the farms, or the daily threats to the lives of Jews living in the area.

The “settler violence” campaign has found its latest cause célèbre in the Arab village of Qusra, south of Shechem — and this time, even U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee appears to have been taken in by the narrative.
Iyad Hassan, an Arab-American activist, helped propel the Qusra story into the American diplomatic arena, according to a report by Abu Ali Express. Hassan publicly claimed that “terrorist settlers” had been besieging the family’s home for five consecutive days and criticized the United States for supposedly failing to intervene.
He emphasized the family’s American connection — one of the homeowner’s sons holds U.S. citizenship — and circulated video of the incident. Huckabee responded directly to Hassan, saying the accusation that the United States had done nothing was false and revealing that the U.S. Embassy had already asked Israeli authorities to intervene. But in doing so, Huckabee also accepted Hassan’s framing, referring to the Israelis involved as “terrorists” and their conduct as an “act of terror.”
Those are extraordinary words coming from the Ambassador. But they came before the broader story of Qusra and the events surrounding the family’s home had entered the public discussion.
Qusra is not simply an isolated Arab village suddenly victimized by marauding Jews. For years, Qusra has been the source of repeated violent incidents against Jewish hikers, shepherds and nearby communities, including lynching attempts, road spikes, attacks on Jewish drivers, stone-throwing, explosive devices and other attacks.
The current confrontation also involves a larger struggle over control of Jabal Ein Eina, a strategically important ridge overlooking the Shiloh bloc.
According to reports by activist Elisha Yered, the Palestinian Authority and surrounding village councils have spent years encouraging road construction, building and agricultural activity designed to expand Arab control over the mountain.
About eight months ago, Jewish families and young men established the Tel Talpiot hilltop on the ridge, effectively blocking that expansion.
Since then, according to Yered, residents and shepherds in the area have faced repeated attacks.
One of the men now portrayed as a principal victim of “settler violence” is Qusai Abu Ridi, whose home stands outside the built-up area of Qusra on the slopes of the mountain.
Yered reports that Abu Ridi was previously arrested after being documented participating in a violent assault on a Jewish shepherd. According to that account, several attackers held the shepherd down while another struck him and another raised a hoe toward his head. Masked stone-throwers were also reportedly filmed attacking Jewish hikers from Abu Ridi’s property, while gunfire was reported from the vicinity of his home toward Tel Talpiot several weeks ago.
The latest uproar began after Jewish shepherds erected a shade structure not far from Abu Ridi’s home, reportedly because the summer heatwave made it difficult to move their flock long distances to water.
Abu Ridi subsequently claimed that settlers were laying siege to his family.
But according to Yered, no one prevented the family from entering or leaving the home, no one attacked its residents, and no one assaulted Israeli security forces. Several teenagers later attempted to block authorities from confiscating a vehicle during an enforcement action, but Yered says they did not use violence.
Nevertheless, the story was rapidly transformed into another national “settler violence” scandal.
The campaign also appears to extend well beyond Qusra.
Elchanan Groner of HaKol HaYehudi has highlighted the case of Mashal al-Kouk, an American citizen who divides his time between the Chicago area and Turmus Ayya, another Arab village in Binyamin. According to Groner, al-Kouk has publicly expressed support for Iran, Hezbollah, the Houthis and Hamas, praised the October 7 massacre and shared material from pro-Hamas demonstrations in the United States.
Al-Kouk, too, has complained of settler harassment at a house built outside his village and has involved the U.S. Embassy.
Groner argues that these cases form part of a broader network of Arab-American activists who use U.S. citizenship and access to American officials to internationalize local land disputes and promote the “settler violence” narrative, while the violence directed at Jewish residents receives dramatically less attention.
That context makes Huckabee’s intervention especially troubling.
Huckabee has been one of Israel’s strongest friends in Washington and Jerusalem. Yet in this case, he adopted the terminology of the campaign almost wholesale, publicly labeling Israelis “terrorists” before the competing claims surrounding the incident had been seriously examined.
Ironically, the story then took another turn.
After days of criticism alleging that Israel had failed to protect the Arab family, the IDF reportedly informed the head of Qusra that it was launching a three-day operation in the village. According to Army Radio, residents of as many as 16 homes were to be temporarily evacuated so that the buildings could be used as military positions — including the very house at the center of the supposed “settler siege.”
The issue is not whether every act committed by every Jewish resident of Judea and Samaria is justified. Obviously, it is not.
The issue is whether allegations of “settler violence” are being examined with the same skepticism, context and scrutiny that journalists and diplomats would apply to any other politically charged claim.
In Qusra, the missing context is substantial: years of violence emanating from the village, an ongoing strategic land struggle, documented allegations against some of the very people now presented as victims, and an organized effort to bring American political pressure into the dispute.
Before Israel’s friends join the chorus condemning “settler terror,” they would do well to find out who is attacking whom.
