Our 33 hour vigil this week definitely pushed the issue of Sovereignty even more. Also ministers are talking about it now as you can see below in our summary…
We thank all of you who came, helped, sat with us. Now we need to continue and spread the message. This can be done by all of us, also those who did not make it to the vigil. How? By bringing the message of the vigil to all your friends and lists through email, facebook etc…We live in an age where with a little effort and time we can spread messages far and wide.
News reports and articles were written about the vigil. We also filmed all of the speakers and uploaded it all on our Women in Green youtube channel.
We turn to you and ask you to take the time to spread the links to the articles and video clips to all your contacts .Let it go viral. Contact your synagogues, community centers, local newspapers, radio shows, blogwriters and forward it to them.
Unlike the leftist organizations who have the funds to pay millions of dollars for professional PR firms to spread their lies, libels and distortions, we unfortunately do not (yet…) have such funds and thus we must work hard, each and one of us, with more humble means, to spread the truth and promote the application of Sovereignty as much as we can. Our encounter in the street with the People of Israel was very uplifting, moving and exciting. Am Yisrael is such a wonderful people and its love and loyalty for its Land and its Heritage is so great. These 33 hours in the streets of Jerusalem gave us even more strength and motivation to continue the campaign for the application of Israeli Sovereignty over all of our beautiful G-d given Biblical heartland. Press release: Sovereignty – Also Ministers are talking about it now
One after another, during the '33 hour vigil', leading public figures spoke about the power of applying Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria as a step to halt the terror as well as it being a necessary, political, principled Zionist course of action.
With great satisfaction, Women in Green sum up the 33 hour vigil that was held near the prime minister's residence with the call "sovereignty will bring about victory". The number 33 was chosen to mention and remember the 33 victims of the latest wave of Arab terror.
Many citizens as well as public figures came to the vigil tent to express support for the call to the prime minister to lead to victory and resolution against terror, resolution that will come together with, and as a result of a principled, Zionist, political, historic and just process of applying Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria.
Among them are the Minister of Agriculture Uri Ariel, MK Moti Yogev, Deputy Minister of Defense MK Rav Eli Ben Dahan, former MK Prof. Aryeh Eldad, the head of Yesha Council Avi Roe ,Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem Dov Kalmanovich, Jerusalem Council member Arieh King, Rabbi Menahem Felix, Head of Samaria Council Yossi Dagan, Head of South Hebron Council Yochai Dimri, Jeff Daube ZOA, Dr Chagi Ben Artzi, Hebron international spokesman Yishai Fleisher and many others.
Agriculture Minister Uri Ariel stated that Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria is achievable. Minister Ariel thanked the Women in green leaders for "waking up the public and ourselves to bring about change. It is not a decree from heaven that Jews must be killed in Eretz Yisrael. We ,the government, can and must change". Minister Ariel rejected the argument that the security and political system are doing everything to stop the current wave of terror. "it's not true. We did not tell the Arabs that where there is terror you will not go anymore. We did not close streets and neighborhoods as we have done in Jerusalem, where we actually have succeeded in bringing more security and confidence".
Ariel added the economic aspect : "the anarchy today is because we project weakness. When we are burying our children and go visit the wounded of Arab terror in hospitals, instead that Israel would take the money it deserves from the PA, a billion and a half shekels, Israel runs and gives half a billion shekels to the PA! Whoever does this, encourages terror."
Minister Ariel concluded by saying: "The time has come for sovereignty. Whoever doesn't think one can apply sovereignty over all of Judea and Samaria, let him do it in stages. We must at least apply sovereignty over area C in which only a few tens of thousands of Arabs live and more than four hundred thousand Jews. We are advancing step by step. That is the nature of our return to Eretz Yisrael and of Zionism".
Deputy Minister of Defense, MK Rav Eli Ben Dahan, spoke about the importance of sovereignty as a necessary step for security as well as a historic, Zionist step. "We are here to fulfill the vision of the prophets and the Almighty's commandments and the promise that we would return to our land", he said, adding that the application of sovereignty has an immediate security value: "They think that their attacks will frighten us, that it will make us fearful and stop us from traveling in Judea and Samaria, but we are here to say that we have returned to our land to be here forever and no one will frighten us with terror attacks. And since the terrorists want to shake our sense of security, we will respond to this wave of terror with a real answer when we act to apply our sovereignty over the entire area of Judea and Samaria. This is our commandment and this is the only way for us to extinguish Arab hopes. We are here to say that a Palestinian state will not arise. The murderous people do not deserve a state. We are here and we will remain here because this is our land that the Almighty promised to us".
MK Moti Yogev thanked the heads of Women in Green, Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar, for never weakening, and for presenting the objective and the vision to which we must aspire daily, diplomatically and politically, the vision of sovereignty. Yogev stated that he is convinced that "the State of Israel will apply sovereignty. It will happen. It is not as complicated as it seems".
MK Yogev also added that the answer to terror is to strengthen our hold in the Land of Israel and to set a clear objective – sovereignty between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River. "It's simple. There has never been, nor will there ever be here, a state of murderers. What will be here is the State of Israel under the control of the People of Israel, and the Arabs who live here will be given three alternatives, as in the days of Joshua – acceptance, battle (and we have a strong army that can handle this), or to go away, and we will be happy with this too. There will be no other option".
The Head of the Binyamin and Yesha Council, Avi Roe, thinks that the current period is a historic era in which Prime Minister Netanyahu can lead a necessary and historical diplomatic process of the application of sovereignty. "There is no doubt that this is the time to take significant decisions for the People of Israel. We see how Syria is falling apart; we see Iraq, Egypt, Libya and Gaza and so forth and there is no doubt that the world would understand now better than ever, that the Land of Israel can only be the State of the Jews. We call on our prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu: be strong, strengthen yourself and take the fateful decision to apply sovereignty over all areas of Judea and Samaria, and this way you will be remembered always as the one who applied sovereignty and expanded the borders of the State of Israel to the legitimate borders that we have paid for with blood".
According to Roe, only application of sovereignty over all areas of Judea and Samaria will uproot the hope from the Palestinians' hearts to establish a terror state in the heart of our Land.
Yigal Dilmoni, Deputy Head of the Yesha Council, likewise stated that the application of sovereignty and Israeli law over Judea and Samaria will make it clear to all, to the Arabs who live here as well as people who live abroad, and especially to the citizens of Israel, that Judea and Samaria will always be in Israeli hands. When everyone internalizes this, the desire to harm us in order to make us flee will end. We will remain forever in Judea and Samaria and if they fight us, we will fight them and we will win".
He says that because of the security ramifications of the application of sovereignty, this course of action is in the interest of every citizen in Israel, "this is the only way, over the long range, to put a stop to terror and this is the only way we will win".
The deputy mayor of Jerusalem, Dov Kalmanovich, a victim himself of Arab terror, called for the vigil to continue in every way against the policy of containment that is willing to accept a reality in which every week, one or two families join the ranks of the bereaved. "We must not agree to a policy of containment where we come to accept that every week there will be one or two deaths. No one is willing to accept such a death or wounding in his or her family, and anyone who is not willing to accept the policy of containment must protest it".
When he spoke, former MK Prof. Aryeh Eldad mentioned the days when the argument was whether the response to acts of terror should be revenge, such as the revisionists did, or settlement, such as Mapai did. These days, he noted, instead of the conclusion being "both of them", the answer is "neither". "The Arab goal is to get rid of the Jews from the Land of Israel and the answer is to strengthen the hold of the Jews in the Land of Israel. This is simple and it is an iron wall that will block the Arab hopes to take over the Land. They murder us not because they are filled with despair, but because they want to take the Land here and now. They believe in "Greater Palestine" and do not differentiate between Haifa and Tel Aviv or Beit El and the communities of South Hevron Hills. From their point of view, it is all Palestine and from our point of view it is all the Land of Israel. Netanyahu knows these things and knows that we must not surrender to terror and that establishing facts is the only answer, but he is good at theory and fails in the practical test. The aim is sovereignty over the entire Land of Israel here and now, not because they are murdering us but because this is our homeland".
Shiloh Adler, CEO of the Yesha Council, told of his feelings regarding the revolution that is occurring in Israeli public opinion, which, until recently, did not see the vision of sovereignty as possible, while today the idea has found a place in the Israeli centers of activism. "The revolution that you have led", he said, turning to Katsover and Matar, "is entering by the main door today, and we, as the Yesha Council, together with Land of Israel advocacy groups, will succeed thanks to your movement, which continues to make waves that spread outward, and we will bring the public and the leadership along. It is already being spoken of by senior ministers, the subject arises in the cabinet and not only among radicals. It will happen".
Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar, the Heads of Women in Green and the force behind setting up the vigil tent, see the public's wide response to the call to participate in the vigil as a "sign that the vision of sovereignty is being internalized as a necessary political/diplomatic plan against terror and against demolition warrants, especially since the implosion of the delusional idea of two states, which has collapsed under the waves of terror that are being perpetrated against us and the losses that we suffer daily…"
