כמו ב-22 השנים האחרונות, גם בליל תשעה באב הקרוב תיערך צעדת "נשים בירוק" בירושלים. הצעדה תחל בקריאת מגילת איכה בגן העצמאות, תקיף את שערי העיר העתיקה ותסתיים בשער האריות.
ראשי התנועה יהודית קצובר ונדיה מטר, גאות בצעדה ולא מתכוונות לוותר על המסלול המתוכנן, "השנה אין רמדאן בתקופה הזאת, לא צפויות בעיות. בשער האריות ישאו דברים השר זאב אלקין וסגן השר הרב אלי בן דהן, ח"כ יהודה גליק, פרופ' אריה אלדד ורינה אריאל, אמה של הלל יפה הי"ד.
''זהו מנהג עתיק שחידשנו לפני 22 שנה, מנהג שמביע את כמיהתנו לירושלים כמו כלה שמסובבת את החתן לפני החופה", אומרת מטר ומשחזרת את המאבקים על המצעד בשנים עברו, "בשנה הראשונה היינו צריכים ללכת לבג"ץ וניצחנו, אבל מאז הצעדה מתקיימת ובגאון.
''קיבלנו אישור מהמשטרה אבל פנו אלינו והציעו לעשות את הסיבוב הפוך ולא ללכת דרך שער שכם, אנחנו הבהרנו שלא נוותר על המסלול".
מטר דוחה את דבריו של הרב דוד יוסף ולפיהם הצעדה מהווה פריצות ומחללת את תשעה באב, "חבל לנו מאוד שהעבירו לרב יוסף אינפורמציה שקרית, אלו דברים לא נכונים. כל מי שמכיר את הצעדה שלנו יודע שזו צעדה משפחתית - כולם הולכים ביחד בצורה מכובדת, ויש הפרדה מלאה בקריאת המגילה בגן העצמאות".

הצעדה בשנה שעברה
תנועת ''נשים בירוק'' מוציאה מידי מספר חודשים גיליון של כתב העת "ריבונות". מטר מספרת כי גם בקרב חוגי שמאל קוראים את העיתון. "יצאנו עם העיתון ב-200 אלף עותקים בארץ ובחו"ל. הפעם פרסמנו מודעה בעיתון 'הארץ' עם מספר טלפון ופנו אלינו כמה פרופסורים מהחוגים שלהם שמאמינים גם בהחלת הריבונות, אולי לא באופן שאנחנו רוצים אבל הם בכיוון הנכון.
''עוד ועוד אנשים מבינים שרעיון שתי המדינות אבד מן העולם. פעם חשבו שאנחנו הזויים והיום יש רבים שמבינים שהחלת הריבונות על יהודה ושומרון היא דבר מהותי וחשוב".

This year, on the beginning of the Fast of the Ninth of Av, Women in Green will again hold their annual Walk, from Gan Ha'atzmaut to the Lions Gate. "A growing number people are coming to the understanding that the idea of "two states" has become irrelevant".
As in the previous 22 years, on the coming eve of the Fast of the Ninth of Av, Women in Green will hold their annual Walk in Jerusalem. The event will begin with a reading of the Scroll of Lamentations at Gan Ha'atzmaut (Independence Park on Agron street) , it will proceed in a circle around the gates of the Old City and end at the Lions Gate.
The Heads of Women in Green, Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar, take pride in the Walk and do not intend to compromise on the planned route; "this year Ramadan does not fall during this period, so problems are not anticipated. The following public figures will speak at the Lions Gate: Minister Zeev Elkin and Deputy Minister Rav Eli Ben Dahan, MK Yehuda Glick, Prof. Aryeh Eldad and Rina Ariel, mother of Hallel Yaffa, Hy"d.
"This is an ancient custom, which we renewed 22 years ago; it is a practice that expresses our yearning for Jerusalem, as a bride who encircles her groom at the wedding ceremony", says Matar in the radio interview , and recalls the battles regarding the procession in recent years, "The first year we had to go the Supreme Court and we won, but since then the Walk has continued, and splendidly".
"We got permission from the Police but then they asked us to change the route the other way around, in order to avoid Damascus Gate. We made it clear that we would not compromise on the route".
Matar rejects Rav David Yoseph's opinion that the Walk causes a disturbance and profanes the Ninth of Av. "We are very sorry that Rav Yoseph was given disinformation; these things are not true. Anyone who is familiar with our Walk knows that this is a family event – everyone walks together , respectfully, and during the reading of the Eicha scroll at Independence Park the men are totally separate from the women"
The Sovereignty Journal
Women in Green publishes the Sovereignty Journal every few months. Matar relates that even leftist intellectuals read the journal. "We distributed the journal in close to 200 thousand copies in Israel and abroad. This time we published an announcement in Haaretz with a telephone number and several of their professors called who also believe in the efficacy of applying sovereignty, perhaps not in the way that we would like, but they are on the right path.
"More and more people understand that the idea of "two states" has become irrelevant. They once thought that we were crazy and today there are many who understand that application of sovereignty in Judea and Samaria is something that is essential and important".
