פרופ' אלי פולק הוא פרופסור מן המניין וראש המחלקה לפיזיקה כימית במכון ויצמן למדע. לשעבר ראש חוג הפרופסורים לחוסן מדיני וכלכלי. כאמור יזם את האגודה לזכות הציבור לדעת ששמה לה למטרה לפעול לקידום האתיקה וההגינות באמצעי התקשורת ע"י מעקב וחשיפת דרכי התנהלותם לציבור, דרך הגשת בג"צים, חקיקת חוקים ומחקרים.
האגודה הגיעה לשורה של הישגים בהם פיטוריו של נחמן שי ששרת כיו"ר רשות הציבור, סילוקו של אמנון אברמוביץ מרשות השידור ועוד הישגים תודעתיים.

Friday at Oz veGaon with Prof. Eli Pollak
1) This coming Friday February 3rd 2017 at 9:00 am Prof Eli Pollak will, please G-d, give a lecture at Oz veGaon on the topic of: What is the public's role in the interrelationship between the media and the public?
Professor Eli Pollak is one of the founders of Israel's Media Watch and has served as its chairman since 1995.
A former chairman of the Professors for a Strong Israel, Professor Pollak has been a faculty member of the Weizmann Institute of Science since 1979, and has published over 250 articles on chemical physics.
He has been active in media related issues for more than 20 years, and has been interviewed extensively in electronic media outlets on media and journalism issues. In addition, he is professionally active in many hearings of parliamentary committees and legal proceedings before the Supreme Court.
Professor Pollak was a member of numerous advisory and media management bodies. He is a regular columnist for the Jerusalem Post, as well as a contributor to the Israel Hayom and Makor Rishon newspapers.
Israel's Media Watch (IMW) founded by Prof. Pollak in 1995 works to ensure fairness, transparency and upholding the codes of ethics in the Israeli media.
IMW tracks the Israeli media, conducts studies relating to the media, reports and publishes its findings.
IMW deals on a daily basis with complaints from the public about ethics violations or media bias, releases them to the public, and settles them with the media outlets. IMW encourages the public to be a full partner and to take part in the Israeli media experience.
The lecture will be in Hebrew with simultaneous translation to English
