'נשים בירוק' במכתב תודה למשטרה

תנועת 'נשים בירוק' שיגרה מכתב תודה למפכ"ל ולמפקד מחוז ירושלים על האופן בו ניהלו את אבטחת צעדת ליל תשעה באב, על אף איומים מגורמים איסלאמיסטיים קיצוניים.

תנועת 'נשים בירוק' שיגרה באמצעות עו"ד פרופ' אביעד הכהן מכתב תודה למפכ"ל המשטרה ולמפקד מחוז ירושלים על ניהוגה המוצלח של צעדת ליל תשעה באב.

נזכיר כי ימים אחדים לפני הצעדה המסורתית הודיעה הנהגת מחוז ירושלים של המשטרה לראשי 'נשים בירוק', יהודית קצובר ונדיה מטר, כי לנוכח האירועים האלימים במזרח ירושלים בכלל ובהר הבית בפרט תשקול המשטרה אם לאשר את מסלול הצעדה או להורות על שינויו.

עבור 'נשים בירוק' משמעותה של החלטה לשינוי מסלול הצעדה הייתה ביטולה למעשה של הצעדה המהווה שימור של מסורת עתיקה בת מאות שנים של הקפת חומות ירושלים. בתנועה הביעו חשש גם מהשלכותיה ההסברתיות של החלטה שכזו המהווה כניעה בפועל לתכתיבי הטרור המוסלמי בירושלים.

לאורך כל הימים שקדמו לתשעה באב הביעו ראשי התנועה, יהודית קצובר ונדיה מטר, ביטחון באישור שתיתן המשטרה לתוואי הצעדה. "היה ברור לנו שכשם שבכל מקום אחר כשפורעי חוק מתנגשים בשגרת חייו של הציבור, גם כאן המשטרה תגביל את תנועת הפורעים ואת היכולת שלהם למנוע את שגרת חיי הציבור ולא תגביל את תנועת הציבור", אומרות השתיים.

ואכן, הצעדה אושרה במסלולה המסורתי ואלפי הצועדים קיימו אותה בביטחון מלא וללא כל הפרעה תחת אבטחה הדוקה של שוטרי משטרת המחוז ושוטרי מג"ב שפוזרו לכל אורכו של המסלול וברחובות הסמוכים ומנעו כל חיכוך בין גורמים עויינים לצועדי הצעדה.

יצוין כי את החלטתה קיבלה משטרת המחוז על אף קריאות שפורסמו במזרח ירושלים על ידי גורמים איסלאמיסטיים מתסיסים שקראו "להגיע ולבלום את צעדת המתנחלים", כהגדרתם. קריאה זו, בין אם נענתה ובין אם לאו, לא השפיעה על החלטת מפקד המחוז, ניצב הלוי, וסגל הפיקוד. מצורפת הכרזה המסיתה נגד הצעדה.

כאמור, בעקבות ההחלטה ובעקבות התנהלותה היעילה של משטרת המחוז שיגרה תנועת 'נשים בירוק' את מכתב התודה למפכ"ל, רב ניצב רוני אלשייך, ולמפקד המחוז, ניצב יורם הלוי.

במכתב כותב עו"ד פרופ' הכהן בשם התנועה: "עם סיומה המוצלח של הצעדה המסורתית של ליל תשעה באב מסביב לחומות העיר העתיקה, שגם השנה נטלו בה חלק אלפי צועדים, הנני מבקש להודות לכם מקרב לב בשם מרשותיי, גב' נדיה מטר, גב' יהודית קצובר, תנועת "נשים למען עתיד ישראל – נשים בירוק" ואלפי האנשים שנטלו חלק בצעדה. בזכות מסירותם של אנשי המשטרה, גלויים וסמויים, שעשו ועושים לילות כימים למען שלום הציבור וביטחונו, גם השנה – למרות ההתראות וההפחדות שנשמעו קודם לה – עברה הצעדה כסדרה, בסדר מופתי, ללא הפרעות, ועל כך נתונה לכם תודתנו והוקרתנו".

את מכתבו חותם פרופ' הכהן בתקווה לעתיד: "מקווים שגם בשנים הבאות נזכה לשיתוף פעולה מבורך זה למען ירושלים וכל אוהביה".

Women in Green's Letter of Gratitude to the Police

Women in Green sent a letter of gratitude to the Police Commissioner and the Commander of the Jerusalem District for the way in which they conducted the security of the Tisha b'Av walk, despite threats from agents of radical Islam.

Women in Green, via Atty. Prof. Aviad Hacohen, sent a letter of gratitude to the Police commissioner and the commander of the Jerusalem District for the way in which they ensured the security of the Walk of Tisha b'Av eve.

We note that just a few days before the traditional walk, the leadership of the Jerusalem District of the Police notified the heads of Women in Green, Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar, that in light of the violent incidents in east Jerusalem in general and the Temple Mount in particular, the police would weigh whether to allow the route of the walk or order that it be changed.

For Women in Green, a decision to change the route of the walk would have meant cancelling the walk, which represents the preservation of an ancient tradition of hundreds of years around the walls of Jerusalem. The movement expressed concern about the ramifications of such a decision, which would be submitting to the dictates of Islamic terror in Jerusalem.

In the days preceding Tisha B'Av, the heads of the movement, Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar, expressed their confidence that the police would issue their approval for the traditional route of the walk. "It was clear to us that as in any other place, when criminals cause a disturbance to the public's routine life, the police would restrict the movement of rioters and their ability to prevent the public's routine life and not restrict the freedom of movement for the public", say the two women.

And indeed, the march was approved in its traditional route. Thousands of participants took part with full security and there were no disturbances under the tight security of the district police officers and the Border Police, who were deployed throughout the entire length of the route as well as in the adjacent streets, preventing any friction between hostile elements and the participants of the march.

It should be noted that the district police made this decision despite the call that was issued by Islamist agitators in eastern Jerusalem to "come and stop the settlers' march", as they defined it. This call, whether it was heeded or not, had no influence on the decision by the district commissioner, Major General Halevi, and the command's staff. Attached is the flyer distributed by the Arab inciters against the Walk.

As noted, in consequence of this decision and the effective way that the district police handled the matter, Women in Green sent a letter of gratitude to the Police Commissioner, Chief Superintendent Roni Alsheikh, and the District Commander, Major General Yoram Halevi.

Atty. Prof. Hacohen writes in the letter, that: "With the successful completion of the traditional walk of Tisha b'Av eve around the walls of the Old City, in which, this year as well, thousands of participants took part, I hereby would like to extend heartfelt gratitude in the name of my clients, Ms. Yehudit Katsover and Ms. Nadia Matar, of the movement Women for Israel's Tomorrow – Women in Green, and the thousands of people who took part in the walk. Thanks to the dedication of the police operatives, both overt and covert, who worked, and continue to work, night and day, on behalf of the public's peace and security, this year as well – despite the prior warnings and threats – the walk proceeded as planned, in exemplary order, without disturbance and for this we offer you our thanks and our appreciation".

Prof. Hacohen concludes his letter with hope for the future: "We hope that in the coming years as well, we will merit this active participation on behalf of Jerusalem and all who love her".

Reconnecting with our roots in Oz Ve'Gaon.

Fifty-one years before the establishment of the State of Israel, Binyamin Ze'ev (Theodor) Herzl (1860-1904) declared, "If I were to summarize the Basel Congress in one statement – which for reasons of caution I will not publicly state – it is this: in Basel I established the Jewish state. Were I to say this publicly today, the response would be laughter from all sides. Perhaps in five, maximum 50, years, everyone will acknowledge it."

In 1937, at the Zionist Congress in Zurich, David Ben-Gurion proclaimed, "Our right to the Land of Israel – the entire Land of Israel – is in effect and stands forever. Until the implementation of the complete and total redemption, we will not move from our historic right."

"I love my people and the Land of Israel; that is my credo, that is my life's work, and I have no need for anything else in the world," said Ze'ev Jabotinsky (1880-1940).

These, and 30 more citations of statements of Zionist leaders throughout the years, are prominently displayed in Hebrew and English on artistic wooden signs along the newly-inaugurated Zionist Boulevard, located in the midst of a picturesque pine forest in the Oz Ve'Gaon Nature Preserve in Gush Etzion. There are also nine wooden benches, enabling one to sit quietly, breathe in the crisp mountain air and contemplate the pastoral surroundings, with the option of scanning a bar code with one's phone to access Zionist songs and audio recordings.

Zionist Boulevard was inaugurated as part of the events marking the third anniversary of the establishment of Oz Ve'Gaon, the fiftieth anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem, the liberation of Gush Etzion and the heart- land of Israel, and the 120th anniversary of the First Zionist Congress in Basel, Switzerland. A joint venture of the World Zionist Organization, the Zionist Council of Israel, the Jewish National Fund, the Gush Etzion Council and Women in Green, the event was attended by hundreds of people from all parts of the country, and culminated in a panel discussion addressing the challenges confronting Zionism in the coming decade.

Oz Ve'Gaon was established on the night of July 1, 2014, when it became known that the three boys who were abducted by Hamas terrorists 18 days earlier had been murdered. " Gaon " is a Hebrew acrostic of their names – Gil-ad, Eyal and Naftali.

Nadia Matar and Yehudit Katsover, co-heads of the Women in Green movement, with the encouragement of the Gush Etzion council, decided to create a Jewish presence in the forest near the Gush Etzion junction, as an immediate and appropriate Zionist response to this brutal act of terrorism. Driven by the sense of the fulfillment of a Zionist mission, they have worked tirelessly during the past three years to develop the site into the bustling, vibrant, impressive center of education, culture and tourism that it has become today.

More than 35,000 energetic and motivated youth, from both secular and religious schools, youth groups and pre-military academies have flocked to the site, getting their hands dirty while clearing away thorns and rocks, planting and building. Today, there are beautiful play - grounds, outdoor study niches, picnic tables, a camping site and large tents which can house up to 100 people in Oz Ve'Gaon. Activities include weekly lectures, brit milas, bar and bat mitzvas and sheva brachot celebrations, special holiday events, graduation ceremonies, barbecues, concerts, family gatherings, and much more.

"We want to offer a Zionist experience in Oz Ve'Gaon – not just a chance to plant trees – but an active spiritual and educational experience, so that the person who leaves here is not the same person who came," say Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar. "We want to provide the opportunity for individuals and groups from Israel and overseas, to come and work the land and connect to the land, while enriching their knowledge about Zionism, past, present and future."

The families of the three boys have been partners in the activities of Oz Ve'Gaon from the beginning. "We are grateful to you for your involvement and help," said Yehudit Katsover at the inauguration of Zionist Boulevard. "We thank you for the lofty spirit that you instilled in the nation during the search for the boys, when the heart of each and every one of us beat together in a common rhythm, uniting us as one people."

"There has never been a period for the Jewish People, since it left its land, when unity is as crucial for it as it is today. It is incumbent upon us to perform a significant and substantial action today, one that is not dependent on the spirit of an individual rather on the spirit of the entire people... No language other than the language of their ancestors will provide them with this unity. Only the Hebrew language will revitalize the Jewish People in its land."

Those words, emphasizing the need for unity among the nation, were spoken by Eliezer ben Yehuda (1858- 1922), and were echoed by the speakers at the third-anniversary event at Oz Ve'Gaon.

"It is my hope that not only in hours of crisis will we remember to unite as a people," said Yaakov Hagoel, vice chairman of the World Zionist Organization. "Binyamin Ze'ev Herzl dreamed of a Jewish state in the Land of Israel. He dreamed and we are realizing this dream, here in Oz Ve'Gaon as well... Oz Ve'Gaon is a symbol of the unity of the Jewish People, both in Israel and in the Diaspora, and we must safeguard this united nation forever."

Racheli Fraenkel, mother of Naftali, described the scenes of unity that she witnessed during the period of the search for the boys as miraculous.

"None of the elders of the community could remember anything comparable since the Six Day War," she said, recalling a visit to the US when she saw how all the streams in Judaism gathered in one place to pray and demonstrate together.

Bat-Galim Shaer, mother of Gil-Ad, speaking at the inauguration of Zionist Boulevard, said, "Those before me have already mentioned Herzl who dreamed... to dream and to envision generates tremendous strength and power and is vital for a nation like ours... I dream of unity and a different, respectful kind of dialogue, not only during times of crisis and trouble, but as the dialogue conducted daily. One of the challenges of our generation is to do everything we can to fortify the connection between the Jews in Israel and the Jews in the Diaspora – we will all benefit and grow stronger from this connection."

Uri Yifrach, father of Eyal, added, "The story began not far from here. Searching. Searching for ourselves. Searching perhaps to begin to discover why we are here – what is the meaning of this nation – here in this land."

He read from something that Eyal had written on Yom Hazikaron, Israel's Remembrance Day:

"Go outside. Try. Breathe the air. Overcome. Fall. Get up. Fall again. A thousand times. If you fell a thousand times, it shows that you have the strength to get up... Yom Hazikaron. The question is asked: Why? Why do we need all this sadness? The answer is found in the question itself. One should not ask why [lama] but for what [le ma]. For what purpose? For the nation, for Am Yisrael, for the life that we create and sustain."

"Yes, exactly three years ago, I think we all asked ourselves not why but for what, for what purpose," Uri continued. "Yehudit and Nadia are teaching us the best lesson and we are very grateful for all the extensive activity taking place here in Oz VeGaon. We are all more united because of it."

"I believe that there is no better way to sense the connection to the Land of Israel than to walk its length and breadth, to cross its valleys, ascend its mountain peaks, and meander on its paths," said Zionist leader Zev Vilnay (1900-1988).

צעדת תשעה באב: מתחילים את התיקון להחלטות הממשלה

למרות איומי הערבים "לבלום את הצעדה" אישרה המשטרה את קיומה של הצעדה המסורתית להקפת חומות ירושלים בליל תשעה באב. 'כשנהיה בהר הבית עם דגל ישראל יבוא שלום כי אז יבינו מי בעל הבית בארץ ישראל'.

אלפי משתתפים מכל רחבי הארץ קיימו הלילה, ליל תשעה באב, את הצעדה המסורתית סביב חומות ירושלים. את האישור לקיומה של הצעדה, שהתקיימה זו השעה ה-23, נתנה משטרת ירושלים זמן קצר טרם תחילת האירוע שנפתח בקריאה משותפת של מגילת איכה בגן העצמאות שבירושלים.

עוד קודם לצעדה הגיעה לידי משטרת ירושלים מידע אודות היערכות ערבית להתנגדות לצעדה. בין השאר פורסמה כרזה הקוראת לערביי מזרח ירושלים "לבלום את צעדת המתנחלים היוצאת לסבב שערים עד לכותל המערבי". הכרוז הערבי ציין גם השעה בה אמורה הצעדה לצאת לדרך על מנת שיוכלו ערביי העיר להשתתף בבלימתה.

על אף מידע זה קיבלה משטרת ירושלים בפיקודו של ניצב יורם הלוי החלטה שלא לבטל את הצעדה המהווה שימור של מסורת בת מאות שנים בה הקיפו יהודים בליל תשעה באב את ירושלים כסמל לכמיהה ולכיסופים לירושלים ולמקום המקדש.

במהלך הצעדה בירכו ראשי תנועת 'נשים בירוק', התנועה המארגנת את הצעדה, יהודית קצובר ונדיה מטר, את קציני משטרת ירושלים על מה שהוגדר בפיהן כהחלטה אמיצה, מוסרית והגיונית. "בהחלטתה מבהירה המשטרה שאין להיכנע לתכתיבי פורעים ופושעים ולא להיכנע לטרור. בכל מקום בו ינסו פורעים להפר את הסדר תדאג היא להגן על האזרחים ולא להצר את צעדיהם", אמרו השתיים.

לאורך מסלול הצעדה שמעו הצועדים את הסבריו ההיסטוריים של ההיסטוריון וחוקר ירושלים אריה קליין, שתיאר את תחנות הקרבות במלחמת ששת הימים עד לכניסת כוחות צה"ל דרך שער האריות אל העיר העתיקה. זאת תוך שהוא מתזכר נקודות מההיסטוריה הרחוקה יותר של תקופת חורבן הבית.

הצעדה סביב החומות הסתיימה בשער האריות שם נשאו דברים סגן שר הביטחון, חבר הכנסת הרב אלי בן דהן, חבר הכנסת יהודה גליק, מנחם אייבי לוי ממשחררי ירושלים, ז'ק קופפר יו"ר בית"ר ויו"ר Israel Forever, וישי פליישר.

הצעדה נפתחה והסתיימה בהקרנת סרטונים מיוחדים בהם דבריהם של אישים ואזרחים על הקשר האישי והלאומי שלהם ירושלים. כמו כן הוקרן סרטון ובו דבריה של חברת הכנסת לשעבר, כלת פרס ישראל, גאולה כהן, המספרת על הדרך הפוליטית שעשתה להובלת החוק להחלת הריבונות על מזרח ירושלים.

העצרת שבתום הצעדה נפתחה בדברים קשים של יהודית קצובר ונדיה מטר ולפיהם בעוד בשנים האחרונות יש מי שלא ברורה לו סיבת האבל בתקופת צמיחת הגאולה, אולם "השנה התשובה פשוטה יותר, הערבים הזכירו לנו שאמנם שחררנו את ירושלים, אבל לא השתחררנו מהגלותיות. שוב ושוב כופפנו את קומתינו בפני המלך, הוואקף והפריץ משמאל. מה חושבות להן משפחות שנאן וסתאווי שבניהם נרצחו על משמרתם בהר הבית? מה חושבות על ההתקפלות המבישה של ממשלת ישראל. מה זה אומר להן? הם רואים כיצד ירדן פעלה למען 2 אזרחיה ההרוגים שאחד מהם תקף מאבטח וניסה לרצוח אותו? מה מרגישה משפחת גולדין ואורון על שחרור הגופות של שלושת המחבלים מאום-אל-פאחם וההלוויה המתריסה ששמה ללעג את ריבונות מדינת ישראל? האיבדנו כל רצון לחיות? רק "הרגע", רק ה"עכשיו" חשוב? האם שכחנו שאנו עם שצריך להנחיל דרך מוסר? השבוע עיקמנו את המוסר, אכזבנו את בני הברית ואת כל אלה שמסתכלים עלינו בעולם ומצפים לעמידה איתנה מול הרשע".

לדברי קצובר ומטר ההתקפלות הישראלית לאחר מעשי הרצח וניסיון הרצח של המאבטח בירדן מובילה לבוז מהעולם כולו כלפי ישראל ועל הזלזול הזה בכבודה של ישראל, זלזול שהוא נזק עצום לביטחון ישראל, יש לתת את הדין.

קצובר ומטר רואות בצעדת ההמונית ובעצרת שלאחריה מעין תיקון לאותה פגיעה קשה בכבוד העם והאומה. "האלפים צעדו ללא חשש כשהם נושאים דגלים בגאון במקומות בהם לכאורה יכול היה להתרחש פיגוע בכל רגע, אך בחסות ובמאמצי המשטרה ומשמר הגבול שפרסו כוחות גלויים וסמויים באופן מקצועי ונחוש הצעדה עברה בביטחון מלא. יש בכך תחילתו של תיקון".

השתיים מוסיפות עוד וקובעות כי הכמיהה הגדולה של ציבור ענק כל כך מכל רחבי הארץ לצעוד דווקא במסלול זה של הקפת החומות, במקומות בהם בוצעו מעשי רצח והפגנות אלימות של הציבור הערבי, מבטאת גם את תחושת ראשית התיקון וגם את תחושת המחאה של העם כלפי התנהלות הממשלה והקבינט בפרשות האחרונות.

חבר הכנסת יהודה גליק מיקד את דבריו בתובנות מהאירועים האחרונים בירושלים ופנה ישירות לקציני ושוטרי משטרת ישראל ומשמר הגבול שליוו ואבטחו את הצעדה והעצרת: "בשנה האחרונה שילמתם מחיר כבד מאוד. חמישה שוטרים נרצחו כאן. ראינו כולם שהחזית היא כאן. היו שנים שזה היה בקרית שמונה והיו שנים שזה היה בשדרות. כעת הגענו לשורש שהוא כאן, מאחורי השער הזה", אמר כשהוא מכוון להר הבית שמאחורי שער האריות הסמוך.

גליק ציין את העלייה הדרמטית במספר העולים להר הבית כחלק מהנסים שעשה הקב"ה בידי אדם, כמו גם ההתיישבות ביהודה ושומרון שקמה והייתה בניגוד לרציונל ולהיגיון אלא בזכות הנחישות הציבורית. "צבא יכול לכבוש ולנצח, אבל מי שנותן את הכוח אלו ילדים אימהות וצועדים שקובעים את העובדות בשטח".

"אנחנו אחרי שלושה שבעות של משברים קשים, אבל הבה לא נשכח שאנחנו יכולים להתגבר גם אם למקומיים יש תחושת ניצחון זמני. אני אומר בוז לאומה שרואה באדם שרוצח משפחה בערב שבת כגיבור שלה, בוז לאומה שצוהלת בהלוויה של שלושה רוצחים באום אל פאחם, בוז לאומה שמפרנסת רוצחים". לזאת הוסיף וקבע: "הצדק אתנו. המוסר אתנו, ואסור לנו להישבר. גם בימים של תחושה קשה אין לשכוח שאנחנו במקום אחר, יש לנו מדינה, יש לנו צבא ויש לנו את משטרת ישראל עם מפקדים עם גאווה לאומית. אני מכיר את המשטרה במשך שנים. עם הפיקוד שהיה בעבר הצעדה הזו לא הייתה צועדת. אנחנו צריכים להודות להם על הבנת תפקידה של המשטרה לא לומר מה לא, אלא איך כן. הציבור מצפה שהממשלה תלך אתו קדימה. העם מושך את מנהיגיו, כפי שאמר הרב קוק".

את דבריו חתם חבר הכנסת גליק עם הפנים לעתיד: "היעד הבא הוא להפוך את הר בית ה' למרכז עולמי לקריאה בשם ה' אחד ושמו אחד. ה' הביא אותנו לארץ ישראל כדי שנהיה אור לגויים וכדי שנעביר את המסר שה' אחד ושמו אחד. אסור לנו להישבר ולהתייאש. לא להרים ידיים גם בימי אתגרים משברים ונפילות. יש לכל אחד כאן חלק בגאולת העולם כולו דרך בניית המקדש בהר בית ה'".

סגן שר הביטחון, חבר הכנסת הרב אלי בן דהן, פתח וקבע כי "כל מי שהגיע לכאן הוכיח בגופו וברגליו שאנחנו רוצים את בית המקדש פה ובמהרה".

בדבריו ציין סגן השר את הוראת חז"ל לחתום את קריאת המגילה דווקא בפסוק 'השיבנו ה' אליך ונשובה חדש ימינו כקדם', וקבע כי אכן תקופת הקצף והזעם של הקב"ה חלפה "ומאז אנחנו מתקרבים לקב"ה והוא מתקרב אחינו. אנחנו ממשיכים בקריאה הגדולה של השיבנו ה' אליך ונשובה חדש ימינו כקדם. איך נחדש את ימינו כקדם? רק כאשר נחזיר את הריבונות שלנו על הר בית ה' ונקים את המקדש ויוכלו יהודים להתפלל בו. לא יתכן שלכולם יתנו להתפלל כאן ורק ליהודים לא מאפשרים זאת", אמר ופנה לממשלת ישראל לחולל שינוי גם באפיק זה: "אנחנו פונים לממשלת ישראל והקול הזה יבקיע את החששות. אין שום כוח בעולם שימנע מיהודי לעלות ולהתפלל במקום הקדוש הזה. ככל שנאמר זאת בלי היסוס נעשה ונצליח".

הרב בן דהן השלים את דבריו בדברי תודה וברכה לראשי 'נשים בירוק', התנועה העומדת מאחורי הצעדה והעצרת, יהודית קצובר ונדיה מטר: "אני מברך את נדיה ויהודית על הפעילות הזו להחזרת התודעה הגדולה של הרצון לבנות את בית ה'".

בהמשך העצרת נשא דברים גם מנחם אייבי לוי, בן קיבוץ שדה אליהו, מהלוחמים שהיו חלק מהפריצה ההיסטורית במלחמת ששת הימים לירושלים. לוי סיפר על ימי המלחמה והרגעים בהם שונתה הפקודה שבתחילה אמורה הייתה לשלוח אותו ואת חבריו לצניחה בסיני, ובמקומה נשלחו "לשחרר את ירושלים. הגדוד שלי קיבל משימה לכבוש את בית הספר לשוטרים, גבעת התחמושת, ומשם לאוגוסטה ויקטוריה ואז לרדת לעיר העתיקה".

לוי סיפר על אובדן חבריו בקרב הקשה בגבעת התחמושת, אך התמקד בשלב שבו עלו הוא וחבריו דרך שער האריות אל הכניסה להר הבית. "בשעת הבוקר, כ"ח באייר, ירדנו דרך רכס אוגוסטה ויקטוריה, נכנסנו משער האריות ועלינו לשער השבטים אל הר הבית שהיה מכוסה בעשן וערפל קרב. השטח נטוש, כלי נשק ותחמושת נטושים. מחזה שמשמעות הוא שהאויב נסוג והוא מחפש מקלט ועלינו להיזהר. רחבת הר הבית שוממה. העזתי והצצתי אל מסגד כיפת הזה וראיתי את סלע הר המוריה", סיפר ותיאר את המפגש הראשון עטם אבני הכותל המערבי: "צלפים מנסים לעכב אותנו, הצצה ורואים את סמטת הכותל. אבנים גדולות שותקות דוממות ואולי מזילות דמעה, ומהצד השני חושות בנויות זו על זו בצפיפות וברקע ירי צלפים וקולות 'עזרה' 'חובש' 'רופא'. המקום היה ריק ושומם, ואז באווירה שקטה השתרענו על הקרקע נשענים על אבני הכותל מחפשים מנוח ורוגע מבלי לעכל את המעמד".

לוי הוסיף וסיפר על מאמציו של הרופא הגדודי לסייע לערבייה שכרעה ללדת בעוד הוא מטפל בחיילי הגדוד שנפצעו. את סיפורו המרגש חתם בשירת בית ופזמון מהשיר 'הכותל'.

ז'ק קופפר יו"ר ביתר ויו"ר Israel Forever, נשא דברי ביקורת קשים על התנהלותה של ישראל מיד לאחר מלחמת ששת הימים ובימים אלה. "חטא המרגלים הביא אותנו לארבעים שנות מדבר, וכנראה שהחטא של הורדת דגל ישראל מהר הבית במלחמת ששת הימים הוא שהביא אותנו עד לחתימת פושעי אוסלו גירוש גוש קטיף ועד לפגיעה בכבוד העם היהודי".

ובאשר לימינו אלה אמר: "כיהודי שעלה ארצה וחונך על רעיונו של זאב ז'בוטינסקי קשה לי להבין איך מתרחשים הדברים. קשה לי להבין מצב שבו הם יורים והורגים באנשים שלנו והם אלה שדורשים יום זעם. הם הורגים משפחה בסעודת שבת, נכנסים לבתים שלנו כדי להרוס והם שעושים יום זעם. הם עוברים במגנומטרים במכה ובקופת חולים או ביטוח לאומי כשהם רוצים לקבל תשלום, אבל בהר הבית שלנו הם לא יכולים לעבור והם עשים יום זעם... מתי יגיע יום זעם יהודי שיביא חזרה את עם ישראל לכל חלקי ארץ ישראל? מתי יהיה יום זעם יהודי? כמה זמן עוד נסבול את התשובה 'אל תהיה צודק תהיה חכם'. כל כך הרבה מומחים מסבירים לנו את זה, אבל מה שבטוח הוא שהם לא צודקים ולא חכמים".

"אנחנו יכולים להגיע לכל חלקי ארץ ישראל, ולא מי ששולט כיום בחלק המזרחי של ארץ ישראל יחליט על עתידנו. אנחנו צריכים לקחת את גורלנו בידינו. מהירדן ועד הים יהיה רק דגל אחד, דגל ישראל ולא יהיה דגל שני. אנחנו שולחים את התודות לחיילים ולשוטרים ששומרים עלינו וכשיבוא היום שבו יתנו להם לנצח הם ידעו איך לעשות את זה. ז'בוטינסקי לימד אותנו שכשאתה בעל בית תתנהג כמו בעל בית. אנחנו בעלי הבית וצריכים להתנהג כמו בעלי בית ולא לאפשר לפולשים האלה להחליט מה יהיה. לא יתכן שיוציאו את הסידורים והמחזורים כשאנחנו עולים להר הבית. לא יתכן שיהיה אסור לנו לשיר את התקווה בהר הבית ולהרים את דגל ישראל שם. כל עוד שזה יקרה לא יהיה שלום, כי הם יאמינו שהם יוכלו לא רק לחלק את הארץ אלא גם לסלק אותנו. כאשר נהיה בהר הבית עם דגל ישראל יבוא שלם כי אז יבינו מי בעל הבית בארץ ישראל".

אחרון הדוברים בעצרת היה ישי פליישר, מדוברי הישוב היהודי בחברון שנשא דברים לקהל דובר האנגלית. פליישר קבע כי כשם שכיום מדובר רבות על המונח 'פייק ניוז', חדשות שקריות, הרי שיש גם 'פייק-טרוט' ', אמת שקרית ומזוייפת. "מתרוצצות כל הזמן אמירות שהן כאילו אמת אבל הן לא. הם שקר, לדוגמא העובדה שהמלך ירדן הוא מלך, כאשר האמת היא שהוא אינו אלא בובה שמוחזקת בידי ישראל. בלי ישראל הוא לא היה שורד, והמציאות הנוראה היא שה'פייק-מלך' הזה הוא שמחליט מה קורה אצלנו על הר הבית. איך זה יכול להיות? השקר הזה קורה לעומת האמת האמיתית והמלך האמיתי - מלך מלכי מלכים שנתן לנו את הארץ הזאת. אבל בסופו של דבר מובן שהאמת האמיתית ולא המזויפת היא זו שתנצח".

יצוין כי הצעדה והעצרת התקיימו, כבשנים עברו, באין מפריע וללא כל חיכוך עם האוכלוסייה הערבית של מזרח ירושלים. בסופה של הצעדה התפזר ההמון כשרובו המשיך אל רחבת הכותל המערבי לאמירת קינות.

The Walk of Tisha b'Av: Beginning to Correct Governmental Decisions

Despite Arab threats "to stop the march", the police approved the traditional walk around the walls of Jerusalem on the eve of Tisha B'Av. "When we will be on the Temple Mount with the Israeli flag, real peace will come because then they will understand who is sovereign in the Land of Israel".

Thousands of participants from all parts of the Land of Israel took part last night, the eve of Tisha b'Av, in the traditional walk around the walls of Jerusalem organised by Women in Green. The Israel Police gave their permission for the walk, at the 11^th hour, a short time before the beginning of the event, which began with a mass reading of Lamentations at Independence Park in Jerusalem.

Some time before the walk, the police received information about Arab plans to protest the walk. Among other things, there was an announcement calling for the Arabs of east Jerusalem "to stop the settlers' march around the gates to the Western Wall". The Arab proclamation noted the hour when the walk was to set out so that the Arabs of the city could take part in blocking the walk.

Despite this information, the Jerusalem Police, under the command of Major General Yoram Halevi, decided not to cancel the march, which preserves a centuries-old tradition in which Jews surrounded Jerusalem on the night of Tisha B'Av as a symbol of yearning for Jerusalem and the site of the Temple.

During the march, the leaders of the Women in Green Movement, the movement organizing the march, Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar, blessed the officers of the Jerusalem police and their decision which they described as a courageous, moral and logical decision. "In its decision, the police make it clear that we must not give in to the dictates of rioters and criminals, and not surrender to terror," said the two.

Along the route of the walk, the walkers heard the historical explanations of Jerusalem historian and researcher Aryeh Klein, who described the battle stations in the Six Day War until the IDF forces entered the Lions Gate to the Old City.

The Walkers stopped at the Lion's Gate where speeches were heard by Deputy Defense Minister Rabbi Eli Ben-Dahan, MK Yehuda Glick, Menachem Aby Levi who was among the forces who liberated Jerusalem,Jack Kupfer, chair of Israel Forever and Yishai Fleisher, international spokesman for the Jewish community in Hebron.

The walk began and ended with the screening of special short films that included the words of public figures and citizens on their personal and national connection to Jerusalem. A short film was also shown in which winner of the Israel Prize, former MK Geula Cohen, spoke, telling of the political path that she took to pass the law to apply Israeli sovereignty on eastern Jerusalem. The gathering at the end of the walk began with harsh words by Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar, that while in recent years there are those who do not understand the reason for grief in the period of the sprouting of redemption, "this year the answer is simpler – the Arabs reminded us that although we indeed did liberate Jerusalem, we have not liberated ourselves from exile. Again and again, we "bowed down to the (Jordanian) king", the WAQF and the "paritz" from the Left. What do the Stawi and Shnaan families think, whose sons were murdered while on guard duty at the Temple Mount? What do they think about the disgraceful surrender of the government of Israel? What does this say to them?"

Katsover and Matar see the masses that came to the walk and the following gathering as a sort of correction to the severe harm to the honor of the People and the nation. "Thousands marched fearlessly, carrying Israeli flags with pride in places where an attack might have happened any moment, but with the protection and efforts of the Police and the Border Police, who were deployed both openly and covertly, with professionalism and dedication, the march took place under full security. In this, there is the start of a correction to what happened in the past few weeks".

MK Yehuda Glick focused his words on insights from recent events in Jerusalem and directly addressed the officers of the Israel Police and Border Police who accompanied and secured the march and the assembly: "This past year you have paid a very heavy price. Five police officers were murdered here. We all saw that the front is here. There were years in which it was in Kiryat Shmona and there were years when it was in Sderot. Now, we have come to the root, which is here, behind this gate", he said, indicating the Temple Mount that is behind the nearby Lions Gate.

"We have experienced three weeks of difficult crises, but let us not forget that we can overcome, even if the locals have a sense of temporary victory. I have contempt for the people who sees a person that murders a family on the eve of Shabbat as its hero; I have contempt for a people that rejoices at the funeral of three murderers in Um-al-Fahm, I have contempt for a people that is supported financially by murderers". And to this, he added: "Justice is on our side. Ethics is on our side and we must not break. Even when there are difficult times, we must not forget that we are in a different place, we have a state, we have a military and we have the Israel Police with officers who have national pride. I have known the police for years. With the command that was in the past, this march would not have happened. We must thank them for understanding that the function of the police is not to say what cannot be done, but how it can be done. The public expects the police to go forward with it. The people pulls its leaders, as Rav Kook said".

Deputy Minister of Defense, MK Rav Eli Ben-Dahan began by saying that "Everyone who came here has proven with his body and his legs that we want the Temple here, and quickly".

"We continue with the mass reading of 'Turn us to you, O Lord, and we will return; renew our days as of old'. How will we renew our days as of old? Only when we declare our sovereignty over the Mount of G-d's House and we establish the Temple and the Jews will be able to pray in it. It cannot be that everyone can pray here and only for Jews it is not allowed. We appeal to the government of Israel and this cry will destroy the fears. There is no power in the world that can prevent the Jews of the world from praying in this holy place. If we say this without hesitation, we will achieve it and succeed".

During the gathering, Menahem Abie Levi of Kibbutz Sde Eliyahu, one of the fighters who took part in the historic breakthrough into Jerusalem in the Six Day war, also spoke. Levi told of the days of the war and the moments in which his orders were changed. At first, he was supposed to be sent along with his friends to parachute into Sinai, and instead of this they were sent "to liberate Jerusalem. My battalion got a task to conquer the Police Academy, Giv'at Hatahmoshet (Ammunition Hill), and from there to Augusta Victoria and then to descend to the Old City".

Levi told of the loss of his friends in the difficult battle of Ammunition Hill, but he focused on the phase when he and his friends went up via the Lions Gate to the entrance to the Temple Mount. He ended his stirring story with a poem and a refrain from the poem, "The Kotel".

Jacques Kupfer, chairman of Beitar and Israel Forever, was very critical about Israel's conduct immediately after the Six Day War and in these days as well. "It is difficult for me to understand how things happen. It is difficult for me to understand the situation where they shoot and kill our people and they are the ones who demand a day of rage. They kill a family during the Shabbat meal, come into our houses in order to sow ruin and they are the ones who have a day of rage. They go through magnetometers at the clinic or at the National Insurance office when they want to get a payment, but at our Temple Mount they will not pass through and they have a day of rage… When will there be a Jewish day of rage that will bring the People of Israel back to all parts of the Land of Israel? When will there be a Jewish day of rage? How much more time will we stand for the answer 'don't be right, be wise'. So many experts explain this to us, but what is sure is that they are not right and not wise".

The last to speak at the gathering was Yishai Fleisher, one of the spokesmen of the Jewish community in Hebron, who addressed the English-speaking community. Fleisher stated that today, just as there is much talk about the term "fake news", there is also "fake truth".

"Constantly there are statements that may appear to be true but they are not. They are false. For instance, the fact that the King of Jordan is a king, when the truth is that he is not, but only a puppet that is protected by Israel. Without Israel he would not survive, and the terrible reality is that this "fake king" is the one who decides what happens on the Temple Mount. How can this be? This falsehood is happening in contrast to the real truth and the true King – the King of Kings who gave us this Land. But in the end it turns out that the real truth, and not the fake one, is what will win".
