איזה התרגשות! לא הרגשנו איך עברו להן עשר שנים, כיום אתמול חלפו, והרוח, כאז, כן עתה.
הגעתם לאירוע השבוע בהמוניכם. חשנו את ההתלהבות שלכם, כולכם, כביום שהקמתם ותרמתם למקום הזה בלב פתוח וביד נדיבה עם המון עשייה.
הסתכלנו סביב, כל אחד שהגיע, כל אחד ואחד, עשה כאן עשיה משמעותית.
לא רק עידוד, לא רק חיבוק, אלא עשיה. באלה הידיים סללו כאן שביל, נטעו עץ, בנו שולחן, הקימו פרגולה, קראוונים, מגרש ספורט והשיא בינתיים - השכשוכית. וכמובן יש עוד תכניות בקנה...
זה בתחום החומר. אך מה עם הרוח?
ברור שרוח גוש עציון היא שבנתה, בונה ותבנה
בית המדרש שבשמורה דוחף את הרוח. סדנת הציור של אביטל שרנסקי מעלה את הרוח, כפר הסטודנטים שבהקמה מביא רוח צעירה, כל המכינות שמגיעות לבקר, בתי הספר ובעיקר החיילים וכוחות הביטחון מפיחים כאן רוח – רוח של אחדות, בדיוק כמו שהאימהות והאבות של שלושת הבנים הפיחו בעם כולו באותם ימים גורליים של החיפושים.
המח"ט עמית ימין נשא על כתפיו את עול החיפושים, נשא את העול בענווה רבה ובעוצמה רבה. עשרת אלפים חיילים גויסו אז לחיפושים, ערבות הדדית מופלאה.
העבודה המשותפת עם החטמ"ר, עם כל ראשי מועצת גוש עציון - דוידי פרל, משה סוויל, שלמה נאמן ועכשיו ירון רוזנטל ששכב במארבים למנוע את כריתת העצים ביער ונלחם כאן למניעת גדר ההפרדה, העבודה עם מתנ"ס גוש עציון, עם השכנים ממגדל עוז המחזיקים את המניינים בשבת, אנשי אלון שבות, אפרת, אלעזר - ביחד באמת הופכים אותנו לגוש. גוש של אמונים – למען ארצנו הנפלאה.
אנו רוצות בעזרתכם, כולכם, ובעיקר המועצה וראשה, כדי להגדיל בעוז ובגאון את נקודת האור בלב גוש עציון לחינוך לציונות ולמנהיגות ציונית כמו מייסדי גוש עציון ע"י בניית מרכז חינוכי.
בנוסף ברצוננו לבנות מוזיאון לנשות ההתיישבות, גלריות לאומנות, ג'ימבורי לילדים ועוד.
בימים אלה של בירור זהותנו, שאיפתנו היא לעטוף את ירושלים בשרשרת ישובים ולעלות אליה רוחנית.
והנצח זו ירושלים. ירושלים מרוממת אותנו מעל הארעי והחולף ומפגישה אותנו עם הנצח.
הדברים נכונים במיוחד בימים אלה שבהם אנו מתפללים להצלחת חיילינו בחזיתות ולהשבת שבויינו מידי האויב ולרפואת פצועינו.
"מה אנו, מה חיינו. העיקר הוא המפעל בו אנו חיים. נכה באויב בכל מקום שנשיגנו, נפריע לממש את זממו, תשובתנו נחושה, נצח ירושלים". (כדבריו של מוש, המפקד האחרון של גוש עציון בתש"ח)*

ובהזדמנות זו גם כמה מילות פרידה: רוצות להודות על שיתוף הפעולה המדהים בשנתיים שפקדת על גוש עציון, על ההקשבה וההבנה, על האווירה הטובה שהשרית בין התושבים לפיקודיך, וכמובן על השמירה בעוז וגאון מתוך הבנת חשיבותו האסטרטגית של המקום.

What excitement! We didn't feel how ten years passed, like a day that has gone by, and the spirit, as it was then, is now as well.
You came to the event this week in large numbers. We felt your enthusiasm, all of you, just as when you established and contributed to this place with open hearts and generous hands with much action.
We looked around, and each one who came made significant contributions here.
Not only encouragement, not only hugs, but action. With these hands, you paved a path, planted a tree, built a table, set up a pergola, caravans, a sports field, and the highlight so far - the splash pool. And of course, there are more plans in the pipeline...
This is in the realm of the material. But what about the spirit?
Clearly, the spirit of Gush Etzion built, is building, and will continue to build.
The Beit Midrash in the reserve pushes the spirit forward. Avital Sharansky's painting workshop uplifts the spirit, the student village under construction brings youthful spirit, all the preparatory programs that come to visit, the schools, and especially the soldiers and security forces breathe life here - a spirit of unity, just like the mothers and fathers of the three boys instilled in the entire nation during those fateful days of the search.
Brigadier General Amit Yamin bore the burden of the searches with great humility and strength. Ten thousand soldiers were mobilized for the searches, demonstrating remarkable mutual responsibility.
The joint work with the Gush Etzion Brigade, with all the heads of the Gush Etzion Council - Davidi Perl, Moshe Saville, Shlomo Neeman, and now Yaron Rosenthal, who lay in ambushes to prevent tree felling in the forest and fought here to prevent the separation fence, the work with the Gush Etzion community center, with the neighbors from Migdal Oz who hold the prayer service on Shabbat, the people of Alon Shvut, Efrat, Elazar - together we truly become a "Gush"- a bloc. A bloc of faithfulness – for our wonderful land.
We want, with your help, all of you, and especially the council and its head, to strengthen and proudly expand this point of light in the heart of Gush Etzion for education in Zionism and Zionist leadership like the founders of Gush Etzion, by building an educational center.
In addition, we want to build a museum for the women of the settlement enterprise, art galleries, a children's play area, and more.
In these days of clarifying our identity, our aspiration is to surround Jerusalem with a chain of communities and to rise to it spiritually.
And Jerusalem is eternal. Jerusalem lifts us above the transient and the fleeting and connects us with eternity.
These words are especially true these days when we pray for the success of our soldiers on the front lines, for the return of our captives from the enemy, and for the healing of our wounded.
"What are we, what is our life. The main thing is the enterprise we live in. We will strike the enemy wherever we find them, thwart their plans, our response is determined, the eternity of Jerusalem." (In the words of Mosh, the last commander of Gush Etzion in 1948)
