Friday at Oz veGaon with General Yossi Ben Hanan

B"H, on Friday, the 5^th of Iyar, April 24^th, General Yossi ben Hanan will give a lecture on the subject: The Current State of National Security.

General Yossi ben Hanan was awarded the Medal of Valor for his part in the Yom Kippur War in the Golan Heights where he came directly from his honeymoon in Nepal. He fought in the Quneitra sector. Most of his service was performed in the Armored Division, where he served as head of the Military Export Division and head of the Defense Department's delegation to Europe. A picture of him brandishing a kalashnikov in the waters of the Suez Canal was published in Life Magazine, which symbolizes more than anything, the Israeli victory in the Six Day War.

He is counted among the friends of General Rehavam Ze'evi and Geula Cohen. He is known for his strong spirit and heroism and for his love of the Land of Israel. He met with the Chabad Rebbe and came to be highly regarded by Chabad Hasidim.

We will all be there at the lecture!

חזון דוד ייבנה!

הרס ביה"כ הביאני בשבת בבוקר לתפילה לביהכ"נ חזון דוד.

בחודשים האחרונים אנחנו נמצאים בעוז וגאו"ן אך מכיוון שבעלי בין בוני, מתפללי ומחזיקי בית הכנסת, היה ברור שהשבת אנו בחזון דוד. צעדתי בדרך המוכרת לביה"כ בעצבות גדולה ואומרת לעצמי: "שבת, תתחברי לר' עקיבא".

ואכן הגעתי לביה"כ ההרוס. המחזה נורא. שני קירות כבר עומדים מחדש. ביניהם רצפה, ללא גג, שמש קופחת, מסביב קרשים, קירות שבורים, מפוזרים ברדיוס גדול בשטח, ציוד מכוסה בניילונים מתעופפים ומחכה לשועל שיצא מבין ההריסות.

בין שני הקירות התפללו הגברים וליד הציוד במרחק מה הנשים. האם אפשר לדרוך על הקירות שעל הרצפה, על הברזנטים, על הקרשים? שאלתי את עצמי ושומעת את החזן- קדוש, קדוש , קדוש.

ראיתי את פני המתפללים מלאי נחישות, את רובם מכירה מן המאבקים הקודמים. אנשים יודעי מאבקים ארוכים. מן בטחון נפלא עופף את כולם. הילדים מתרוצצים בתוך ההריסות, בין השברים ואף אחד לא חושש לנפשם הרכה, אולי יגדלו עם טראומה, אדרבא, יראו את החורבן ויראו את התקומה.

ראיתי השבת הרבה ר' עקיבאים. ראיתי אמונה בלתי מתפשרת בנצח ישראל שלא ישקר. אנשים שחיים חיים של שליחות. ממשיכים מאז אברהם אבינו, דרך חושי בן דן, כלב ויהושע, דוד ובר כוכבא, הרמב"ן, החידא, סלונים, הרב גורן- כל האנרגיה הזאת מתרכזת השבת בחזון דוד.

וכך חיים בעיר האבות המתחדשת בביטחון מוחלט שנבואת ר' עקיבא מתממשת כל רגע ורגע. רק עיוור לא יראה ולא יחוש בזאת.

Hazon David will be rebuilt

The destruction of the synagogue brought me, last Sabbath morning, to the prayer service at "Hazon David".

In recent months we have lived at Oz veGaon, but since my husband is among the builders, worshipers and maintainers of the synagogue, it was clear that this Shabbat we would be at Hazon David. I walked the familiar path to the synagogue with great sadness and said to myself: "It is the Sabbath – think of Rabbi Akiva".

And so, I arrived at the ruined synagogue. It is a terrible sight. Two walls have already been erected anew. Between them is a floor, but no roof, the sun is beating down, all around are boards, broken walls, scattered over a great radius all over the area, equipment covered with randomly flying plastic bags, all just waiting for a fox to emerge from among the ruins.

The men were praying between the two walls, and near the equipment, some distance away were the women. "May one tread on the walls that are now on the floor, on the tarpaulins, on the boards?" I asked myself, and hear the cantor – "holy, holy, holy".

I saw the faces of the worshipers, full of determination, most of them I know from previous battles. They are people who have known protracted battles. A wondrous sense of confidence envelopes everyone. The children run about among the ruins, among the debris, and no one fears for their delicate souls, that they are growing up with this trauma; on the contrary, they will witness the destruction and they will also witness the redemption.

This past Shabbat I saw many Rabbi Akivas. I saw uncompromising faith in the eternity of Israel and its eternal truth. People who live a life of dedication, with a sense of mission. We are continuing the way of our father Avraham, Hushi ben Dan, Calev and Yehoshua, David and Bar Kochba, the Rambam, the Hida, Salonim, Rabbi Goren – all of this energy was concentrated this Shabbat at Hazon David.

And this is life in the City of the Fathers, which is renewed with total assurance that the prophecy of Rabbi Akiva is occurring every single moment. Only the blind cannot see it and feel it.

חזון דוד ספג הלילה את ההרס הל"ו.

כגנבים בלילה מצוידים בכלים כבדים, קבלן הריסות ושרשרת הדוקה של שוטרים הצליחו תוך שעתיים להשאיר מן המקום תל חורבות.

ארון הקודש וספר התורה הוגלו. המראות נוראיים.רעש הדחפורים חפר עמוק בלבבות אך הרוח של האנשים איתנה. כפי שבטוחים אנו שמחר תזרח השמש, מחר יוקם ביה"כ מחדש.

אכן רוח העם איתנה אך איפה רוח המנהיגות שזה עתה נבחרה באצבעותנו ?

אנו קוראים לנבחרים הלאומיים: חדלו מההרס. הסדירו. תנו זמן לסדר את הטעון סידור. אל תהיה ידכם קלה על השופלים.

Women in Green's reaction to the destruction of Hazzon David in Kiryat Arba Hevron last night

The Hazon David synagogue has been destroyed for the 36^th time.

Like thieves in the night, armed with heavy equipment, the destruction contractor and a tight chain of policemen managed within two hours to leave the place as a heap of rubble. The Holy Ark and Torah scroll were exiled. What a terrible sight. The roar of bulldozers dug deeply into their hearts but the people's spirit remains strong. As sure as the sun will shine tomorrow, we know that tomorrow, a synagogue will arise anew.

The people's spirit is indeed strong but where is the spirit of the leadership that was just elected by our own will?

We call on the nationalist representatives: Stop the destruction. Allow things to be sorted out. Allow for the time for the necessary arrangements to be made. Do not lend your hand to wanton destruction. You were elected in order to build. To develop. Do not betray the will of the people.

1) שישי הקרוב בעוז וגאו"ן על רב –סרן בניה שראל הי"ד

ביום שישי הקרוב, כ"ח ניסן ב9:00 בבוקר בעוז וגאו"ן נשמע את הרב שלום שראל מדבר על בנו בניה הי"ד שנהרג בהיתקלות ברפיח במבצע צוק איתן.

שראל, מפקד פלס"ר גבעתי, הוא אחת הדמויות המיוחדות והבולטות מבין הנופלים במבצע 'צוק איתן'. קצין מצטיין, חותר למגע בכל הזדמנות, שנפל בקרב הקשה שבו היה חשש לחטיפתו של סג"מ הדר גולדין הי"ד. בסיפורו האישי בלט גם הקשר בינו ובין ארוסתו, גלי ניר, קשר שנרקם בין קיבוצניקית מרשפון לקצין מבטיח שגדל בסמטאות חברון וקריית ארבע ונטמן בבית העלמין העתיק בעיר בהלוויה שנמשכה לילה שלם. גלי ובניה היו אמורים להתחתן בקיץ. דמותו של בניה, כפי שהיא נשקפת מהסיפורים הרבים שעלו בשבעה, צבועה בצבעים רבים ומגוונים, צבעים עזים של חיים.

This coming Friday, the 28^th of Nisan, April 17, at 9:00 AM at Oz veGaon, we will hear Rav Shalom Sarel speak about his son Benaya, HY"D, who was killed in a clash in Rafiah during Operation Protective Edge.
Sarel, the commander of a Givati unit, is one of the most prominent figures among all of the fallen soldiers of Operation Protective Edge. An outstanding officer, seeking every opportunity for contact with the enemy, who fell in the difficult battle in which it was feared that Second Lieutenant Hadar Goldin, Hy"d, had been abducted. Regarding his personal story, there is another significant element of the connection between him and his fiancée, Gali Nir, a connection that was woven between a girl from Kibbutz Rishpon and a promising officer who grew up in the alleyways of Kiryat Arba Hevron and was buried in the ancient cemetery in the city, in a funeral that lasted an entire night. Gali and Benaya were supposed to have been married that summer. Benaya's character, as it is reflected by the many stories about him, is colored with many various hues, the strong colors of life.
His father, Rav Shalom Sarel, architect and resident of Kiryat Arba-Hevron, will tell us about him. A morning not to be missed. Please come in warm clothing.

3)      Memorial Day and Independence Day at Oz veGaon – mark your calendar
-          The eve of Memorial Day, Tuesday, 2^nd of Iyar, April 21^st at 20:30: an evening of music and song when we will unite with our fallen fighters and a short talk by Dr. David Mandel, the father of Lieutenant Daniel, obm
-          Independence Day, Thursday, the 4^th of Iyar, 5775, April 23^rd, 2015: Instilling the children with the joy of Independence Day at Oz veGaon. The public is invited to come to Oz veGaon. Workshops for the children in the scenery of nature will be held between the hours of 11:00 and 16:00. Details will follow soon.

4)    Summary of Pessach at Oz veGaon
Thousands of visitors from the entire country came to the Oz veGaon Nature Preserve with their families during the intermediate days of Passover, including:
-          Dozens who participated in the festive prayer service accompanied by musical instruments with Cantors David Litke and Avi Borstein
-          100 soldiers who chose to celebrate the holiday with a barbeque and songs specifically at Oz veGaon
-          Dozens of guests who were invited to the engagement ceremony of a resident of Gush Etzion – Congratulations!
-          Dozens of guests, who were invited to the Pidyon Haben (Redemption of the Firstborn ceremony) for the family of Rav Shlomo Kimhi, head of the Orot Yehuda Yeshiva – Congratulations!
-          Hundreds of participants in the happening held by the Tismotek Organization
- Tefillot of chag and Shabbat took place at Oz veGaon thanks to the residents of Migdal Oz and Alon Shvut who come every Shabbat and Chag to complete a minyan, under all weather conditions. Kol Hakavod!
