זו יכולה להיות שעתו הגדולה וההיסטורית של נתניהו. כל חייו עד כה, כל הקריירה, כל הטעויות שמהן היה עליו ללמוד, הכל מתנקז כעת לשיא.
אם הוא יעמוד בלחץ ויעשה את המוטל עליו, שאותו הוא יודע היטב, הוא ייכנס להיסטוריה לצד צ'רצ'יל, כי לא רק גורלה של ישראל מול האסלאם נמצא כעת על כף המאזניים, אלא גם גורל העולם המערבי שניגף מול אותו אויב.

יש לי רשימה ארוכה של האשמות נגד נתניהו. הוא לא אשם בהפתעה של ה-7.10 אבל אשם בכך שהגענו לכך עם חצי צבא, שקוצץ בתקופתו, וללא תחמושת לחצי שנשאר. בקיצור, גלילה לאחור בפיד שלי מספקת רשימה ארוכה של מחדליו וטעויותיו.
אבל
נתניהו מציל כעת את עצם קיומה של מדינת ישראל בעמידתו מול הדרישות חסרות האחריות והמופקרות להיכנע לחמאס, לעצור את המלחמה, לצאת מהשטח, והיהלום שבכתר - לנטוש את ציר פילדלפי.
מי שעוזב את ציר פילדלפי פותח את הדרך ולמעשה שולח לפחות חלק מהחטופים לאירן.
מי שעוזב את ציר פילדלפי מכניס שיטפון של נשק, טילים, חומרי נפץ, מכונות יצור נשק, כטבמים וכו' לעזה.
הדרישה היחידה והבלתי משתנה של החמאס היא עצירת המלחמה, עזיבת צה"ל, שיקום עזה וערבויות בינלאומיות לכך.
התוצאה הבלתי נמנעת היא שיקום מלא, ומשודרג של כל המפלצת שהיתה שם, ושכעת גוססת.
איש לא יחזור לישובים, וכל התפיסה של ישובי ספר תגיעה לקיצה. החזית תעבור לקו השני של הישובים, וחלקם יינטש.
כל התפיסה הטובה והישנה של הציונות, של שילוב של ביטחון והתיישבות, תתמוטט.
למעשה מדובר על סוף הציונות.
עצם האמון של האזרחים ביכולתו של צה"ל להגן על החיים במדינה עומד כעת למבחן. אם נכה את החמאס עד הסוף, האמון יישתקם. אם ניכנע, הוא ייעלם.
תוצאה של כזה ארוע היא ירידה המונית מהארץ, כי זה באמת יהיה חסר אחריות לחיות במדינה שהובסה במלחמה מול ארגון טרור.
מדינה שייבאה את כנופיית אש"פ, נתנה לה שטח, כסף, נשק ולגיטימציה בינלאומית, אח"כ ברחה מעזה והסכימה שתקום שם מפלצת טרור, ולאחר שהותקפה, הרימה ידיים רגע לפני ההכרעה והחזירה את החמאס לעזה כאילו לא היה כלום. מדינה כזו אינה יכולה לזכות באמון הציבור שהיא מסוגלת להגן עליו. כלומר כניעה לחמאס כעת עלולה להביא לקריסת המדינה, לא פחות.
החטופים ומשפחותיהם חיים בסיוט הכי גדול שכל אחד מאיתנו מסוגל לדמיין.
אבל מה שעומד במשוואה מול גורלם של החטופים הוא קיומה של המדינה וגורלם של מיליונים, ולכן מנהיג אחראי שמבין היכן הוא חי ומה גודל האחריות, לא יכול שלא להגיע למסקנה שאוי לנו אם ניכנע.

נתניהו עשה הרבה דברים לאורך שנות כהונותיו הרבות. לטעמי, הכף נוטה לרעתו במאזן של מחדלים מול הישגים, אבל כעת הוא ממלא תפקיד גורלי, צ'רצ'יליאני ממש. הוא עומד בלחצים איומים מהממשל האמריקאי העוין, שגם מפעיל נגדו לפחות חלק מהחתרנות מבית, והוא עומד מול ניסיונות המרדה, הסתה פרועה, הכפשות חסרות מעצורים, וציבור, שאמנם מהווה מיעוט, אבל מנסה לשרוף את המדינה בשעת מלחמה כאילו אין מחר ואין אויבים.
את כל זה הוא עושה מול רוב התקשורת העוינת, מטכ"ל ושר ביטחון תבוסתנים שמתואמים יותר מדי עם האמריקאים ומערכת המשפט המושחתת שאינה נוקפת אצבע נגד שורפי המדינה, המורדים והמסיתים, במפגן בוטה של איפה ואיפה והתייצבות לטובת המורדים.
זו יכולה להיות שעתו הגדולה וההיסטורית של נתניהו. כל חייו עד כה, כל הקריירה, כל הטעויות שמהן היה עליו ללמוד, הכל מתנקז כעת לשיא. שיא בהתעקשות לחסל את החמאס, להחריב את עזה ולהוכיח שלא משתלם לטבוח ביהודים במדינת ישראל, וגם שיא בנושא האירני שמגיע כעת לשלב הסופי של פיתוח פצצות אטום.
אם הוא יעמוד בלחץ ויעשה את המוטל עליו, שאותו הוא יודע היטב, הוא ייכנס להיסטוריה לצד צ'רצ'יל, כי לא רק גורלה של ישראל מול האסלאם נמצא כעת על כף המאזניים, אלא גם גורל העולם המערבי שניגף מול אותו אויב.
ישראל שתנצח את החמאס עשויה לספק הוכחה ודוגמה אישית שניתן לנצח את האסלאם הקיצוני, כך שתפקידו של נתניהו כפול ומכופל.
אנו נמצאים בתקופה גורלית. יש ביכולתנו להפוך אותה לתקופה גדולה, לשעתנו היפה ביותר.

This could be Netanyahu's great and historic hour. His entire life up to now, his entire career, all the mistakes he had to learn from, are now culminating in a peak.
If he withstands the pressure and does what is required of him, which he knows well, he will go down in history alongside Churchill, because not only Israel's fate against Islam is now on the line but also the fate of the Western world that is struggling against the same enemy.

I have a long list of accusations against Netanyahu. He is not to blame for the surprise attack of October 7, but he is to blame for the situation we have reached that day, with only half of the army remaining, which was reduced during his term, and without ammunition for the remaining half. In short, scrolling back through my feed provides a long list of his failures and mistakes.
However, Netanyahu is currently saving the very existence of the State of Israel by standing firm against the irresponsible and reckless demands to surrender to Hamas, stop the war, withdraw from the territory, and, the crown jewel of the demands—to abandon the Philadelphi Route.
Anyone who leaves the Philadelphi Route opens the way and essentially sends at least some of the hostages to Iran. Anyone who leaves the Philadelphi Route floods Gaza with weapons, missiles, explosives, weapons production machinery, drones, and more.
Hamas's only and unchanging demand is the cessation of the war, the withdrawal of the IDF, the reconstruction of Gaza, and international guarantees for it. The inevitable result is a full and upgraded reconstruction of the entire monster that was there and is now dying.
No one will return to the communities, and the entire concept of frontier communities will come to an end. The front line will move to the second line of communities, and some will be abandoned. The old and good concept of Zionism, of combining security and settlement, will collapse. In fact, it represents the end of Zionism.
The very trust of the citizens in the IDF's ability to protect lives in the country is now being tested. If we defeat Hamas completely, trust will be restored. If we surrender, it will disappear. Such an event would result in a massive exodus from the country, as it would truly be irresponsible to live in a country defeated in a war against a terrorist organization.

Such a country cannot earn the public's trust that it is capable of protecting them. In other words, surrendering to Hamas now could lead to the collapse of the state, no less.
The hostages and their families are living the greatest nightmare any of us can imagine. But what is at stake, in addition to the fate of the hostages, is the existence of the state and the fate of millions. Therefore, a responsible leader who understands where he lives and the magnitude of his responsibility cannot fail to reach the conclusion that we are doomed if we surrender.

In my opinion, the balance tilts against him in the ledger of failures versus achievements, but now he is playing a critical, Churchillian role. He is facing immense pressure from the hostile American administration, which is also applying part of its domestic subversion against him. He faces attempts at insurrection, wild incitement, unrestrained defamation, and a public that, although a minority, is trying to burn the country during wartime as if there is no tomorrow and no enemies.
He is doing all this against the backdrop of a hostile media, a general staff, and a defense minister who are overly coordinated with the Americans, and a corrupt judicial system that does nothing against the state burners, the insurrectionists, and the inciters, in a blatant display of double standards and siding with the insurgents.
This could be Netanyahu's great and historic hour. His entire life up to now, his entire career, all the mistakes he had to learn from, are now culminating in a peak. A peak in his determination to eliminate Hamas, to devastate Gaza, and to prove that it is not worth to slaughter Jews in the State of Israel, as well as a peak in dealing with the Iranian issue, which is now reaching the final stage of developing atomic bombs.
If he withstands the pressure and does what is required of him, which he knows well, he will go down in history alongside Churchill, because not only Israel's fate against Islam is now on the line but also the fate of the Western world that is struggling against the same enemy.
Israel's victory over Hamas could provide proof and a personal example that it is possible to defeat radical Islam, so Netanyahu's role is both doubled and tripled. We are in a critical period. We have the ability to turn it into a great period, into our finest hour. Today, I strengthen Netanyahu's hands and keep my fingers crossed for him.
