גשמי הברכה העזים שירדו בחורף האחרון חפרו בורות עמוקים בדרך המובילה לעיטם . ג'יפים העלו את האנשים לגבעה. גבעת עיטם. הגבעה השמינית של אפרת, המשקיפה על ירושלים וכל גוש עציון, המחכה שייבנו עליה 2500 יחידות דיור.
גבעת עיטם לבשה חג- עשרות דגלים הקיפו את הגבעה- כסאות ומחצלות נפרסו ליד המדורה.
הרב ברוך אפרתי, חבר בועד למען פיתוח העיטם, רב בית כנסת זית רענן באפרת וראש ישיבת שבות ישראל, דיבר על כח רשב"י ועל חשיבות העשייה.
הרב שמואל זיוון ניגן , שר וסיפר סיפורים יחד עם הרב המקובל דרור גלעדי.
חבר מועצת אפרת דבי שפלר סיפר לבאים את תולדות גבעת העיטם מאז שלמה המלך, בציפיה לתגליות ארכיאולוגיות כאשר יחלו בבניית השכונה בת 2500 יחידות דיור שתהפוך את אפרת בע"ה לעיר הבירה של גוש עציון.
אש מדורת ל"ג בעומר בעיטם הדליקה בליבותיהם של עשרות התושבים מאפרת, ירושלים, קרית ארבע חברון וגוש עציון המודעות לחשיבות גבעת העיטם והצורך להמשיך לעלות למקום בדרישה שיתחילו לבנות בה.
ההילולא היתה מושלמת עם תפוחי אדמה, מרשמלו שעלו מן המדורה חרוכים וריחניים. פיצות חמות ותה מרווה שהוכן בשטח חיממו במקצת את הגוף מהרוח החזקה שנשבה בעיטם.
הארוע אורגן ע"י הועד למען פיתוח העיטם ותנועת נשים בירוק בסיועה של מועצת אפרת.
הציבור מוזמן להשתתף בפעילויות המתקיימות בגבעת עיטם בימי שישי.

The Lag ba-Omer Bonfire Burns Brightly at Eitam
The plentiful rains that poured down this last winter opened deep pits on the way leading to Eitam. Jeeps brought people up the hill, the Eitam hill. This is Efrat's eighth hill, that looks out on Jerusalem and all Gush Etzion, and that waits for 2,500 housing units to be built on it.
The Eitam hill was decorated for the holiday: dozens of flags were all around the hill, and chairs and mats were spread out by the bonfire.
Rabbi Baruch Efrati, a member of the Committee for the Development of Eitam, the rabbi of the Zayit Raanan synagogue in Efrat, and head of the Shvut Yisrael yeshivah, spoke of the power of Rabbi Shimon bar Yohai and of the importance of action.
Rabbi Shmuel Zivan played music, sang, and told stories, together with the Kabbalist Rabbi Dror Giladi.
Efrat Local Council member Dovi Schefler related to those present the history of the Eitam hill since the time of King Solomon, with the expectation to find archaeological discoveries when construction begins of the neighborhood of 2,500 housing units, that will, G-d willing, turn Efrat into the capital of Gush Etzion.
The Lag ba-Omer bonfire on Eitam kindled, in the hearts of the scores of residents from Efrat, Jerusalem, Kiriat Arba-Hebron, and Gush Etzion, an awareness of the importance of the Eitam hill and the need to continue going up to the hill with the demand to begin construction on it.
The celebration was complete, with the potatoes, the marshmallows that came from the bonfire charred and irresistible, the hot pizzas, and the sage tea prepared on the hill somewhat warmed people's bodies against the strong wind that blew at Eitam.
The event was organized by the Committee for the Development of Eitam and the Women in Green movement, with the assistance of the Efrat Local Council.
The public is invited to take part in the activities held on Eitam on Fridays.
"We will certainly go up, and we shall gain possession of it, for we shall surely overcome it" (Numbers 13:30)!
