"המענה האמיתי – חזרה לגוש קטיף"
בתום סיור בדרום בו פגשו חיילים ותושבים קובעות ראשי 'נשים בירוק' כי המענה היחיד שיביא לשקט בדרום הוא לא להסתפק במבצע צבאי אלא להיאחז אזרחית ברצועה, כלומר לשוב לגוש קטיף.
ראשי תנועת 'נשים בירוק', יהודית קצובר ונדיה מטר, ערכו אתמול, יום שני ה' כסלו, סיור בדרום בו פגשו את תושבי עוטף עזה לצד מפגשים שקיימו עם חיילי צה"ל הנמצאים בכוננות לקראת כניסה אפשרית לרצועת עזה.
קצובר ומטר חילקו לחיילים צ'ופרים, שתייה ועוגות, ושוחחו עימם לא מעט. לדבריהן בשיחות מנשבת רוח של נכונות להקרבה מתוך הבנת ערכו של המבצע, אך עם זאת הן מוסיפות וקובעות כי כל עוד לא תושב האחיזה האזרחית ברצועת עזה, קרי חזרה להקמת יישובי גוש קטיף מחדש, לא יושם הקץ לירי הטילים מהרצועה ולהתחזקותו של חמאס שם.
"אין טעם להיכנס לעזה אם לא מתכוננים להישאר בה, לשלוט עליה, ליישבה מחדש", אומרות השתיים. "די לריטואל הקבוע - מתחילים ולא גומרים. מבצעים כמו גשם ראשון, חץ דרומי, גשמי קיץ, אלוני בשן, פרי סחוט, ענני סתיו ועופרת יצוקה הוכיחו שללא חזרה לשליטה מלאה ברצועת עזה המצב ימשיך להיות כפי שהיה".
כשהן מנתחות את המציאות שהתהוותה בשטחי הרצועה בשנים האחרונות הן מזכירות כי "שבע שנים עברו מאז הגירוש מגוש קטיף - כמות הרקטות ורדיוס הפגיעה שלהן גדלו בצורה משמעותית. אמנם פחתו העימותים בין חיילי צה"ל לאנשי עזה, אך מנגד פעולות הטרור הופנו לעבר יישובי עוטף עזה. כך גם גבר ירי הרקטות על שדרות, על יישובי חבל אשכול, על אשקלון, אשדוד וערים נוספות. חמאס הצליח להכניס כמעט מדינה שלמה למרחבים מוגנים, להשבית את השגרה בדרום ואף לערער את ביטחונם של אנשי גוש דן וירושלים. אם חפצי חיים אנו ואם אכן הממשלה רוצה להשיג את המטרה שהציבה, כלומר הפסקת ירי הרקטות על יישובי ישראל, עליה ליישב מחדש את גוש קטיף".
"ממשלת ישראל נדרשת להכרעות קשות - האם ברצונה לרצות את הזירה הבינלאומית והשמאלנית פנימית, או למלא את חובתה לאזרחיה? ההכרעה אינה פשוטה. ב'עופרת יצוקה' דיבר נתניהו על הכרעה. היום כשהמושכות בידיו הוא ניצב בפני הזדמנות היסטורית".
קצובר ומטר מתוות את השלבים שלדבריהן בהם יש לפעול בדרך להשבת האחיזה הישראלית בשטח הרצועה: "תחילה צה"ל ייכנס, ינקה את קיני הטרור, ישמיד את קיני השיגור ולאחר מכן יקים היאחזויות נח"ל שיאוזרחו מאוחר יותר ויהפכו לישובים פורחים שיחלישו את החמאס. על ידי ההתיישבות ניתן לרסק את התשתיות הכלכליות, החברתיות וההסברתיות של החמאס".
על המפגשים שקיימו בדרום עם אזרחים וחיילים הן מספרות: "ירדנו היום לדרום כדי לחלק לחיילי צה"ל נשנושים, עוגיות ושתיה. דברנו אתם. חיילים עם מורל בשמים. בריאים בנפשם שמבינים טוב מאד שרק כניסה עם הישארות תעשה את העבודה. פגשנו גם את תושבי הדרום החזקים והנפלאים בנתיבות ובאופקים. גם להם ברור שעל ישראל לחזור לשלוט בעזה. לשלוט זה אומר לא רק שליטה צבאית אלא נוכחות אזרחית – התיישבות, ישובים, חקלאות, שדות, ירקות, בתי ספר ובתמצית - לבנות מחדש את גוש קטיף. הארץ זועקת לבניה שישובו. כל פתרון אחר הוא כמו פלסטר לטיפול בסרטן".

"The True Response: Returning to Gush Katif"
At the end of a tour in the south, the leaders of Women in Green state that the only response that will bring quiet to the south is not to rely solely on a military operation, but to take civilian possession of the Gaza Strip, that is, to return to Gush Katif
Women in Green leaders Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar conducted yesterday, Monday November 19th, a tour in the south in which they met the inhabitants of Otef Gaza (the area around the Gaza Strip), along with IDF soldiers in readiness for possible entry to the Gaza Strip.
Katsover and Matar distributed treats to the soldiers - drinks and cookies - and spoke with many of them. They say that these conversations were filled with a spirit of willingness to sacrifice, out of an understanding of the value of the operation. This said and done, they add that as long as civilian possession of the Gaza Strip is not restored, that is, the reestablishment of the Gush Katif communities, there will be no end to the rocket fire from the Strip and the strengthening of Hamas there.
"There is no point to entering Gaza if we don't intend to remain there, to control it, to settle it once again," the two state. "Enough of the fixed ritual - starting, but not finishing. IDF operations like 'First Rain,' 'Southern Arrow,' 'Summer Rains,' 'Bashan Oaks,' 'Squeezed Fruit,' 'Autumn Clouds,' and 'Cast Lead' proved that without returning to the Gaza Strip, the situation will continue as it was."
When they analyze the reality that has come into being in the area of the Gaza Strip in recent years, they recall that "seven years have passed since the expulsion from Gush Katif - the quantity of rockets and their range have increased significantly. The friction between IDF soldiers and the Gazans within the Strip has decreased, but, correspondingly, terrorist acts have been directed against the Otef Gaza settlements. Likewise, rocket fire has increased towards Sderot, the communities of the Eshkol region, Ashkelon, Ashdod, and other cities. Hamas has succeeded in driving almost an entire country into safe rooms, in putting a stop to regular life in the south, and even in undermining the security of those living in Gush Dan (the Tel Aviv metropolitan area) and Jerusalem. If we want to live, and if the government wants to achieve the goal it has set, that is, the cessation of rocket fire on Israeli settlements, it must settle Gush Katif once again."
"The government of Israel must make hard decisions: does it want to placate the international and internal leftist domestic arenas, or to fulfill its duty to its citizens? The decision is not a simple one. During Cast Lead Netanyahu spoke of a resolution of the situation. Today, when he holds the reins, he stands before a historic opportunity."
Katsover and Matar delineate the steps to be taken in order to restore Israeli possession of the area of the Gaza Strip: "First, the IDF must enter, clean up the terror nests, and destroy the launch sites. Afterwards, Nahal he'ahzuyot [paramilitary settlements] are to be established, which will later be granted civilian status and become flourishing communities that will weaken Hamas. The creation of communities will make it possible to crush the Hamas economic, social, and propaganda infrastructures."
They describe their meetings in the south with civilians and soldiers: "We went down to the south today to distribute snacks, drinks, cookies and key cahins with Tefillat Haderech to the soldiers. We talked with them. Soldiers with morale in the sky, with the proper attitude, who realize very well that only going in - and remaining there - will do the job. We also met with the strong and wonderful inhabitants of Netivot and Ofakim. It is clear to them, as well, that Israel must take control of the Gaza Strip once again. 'Control' does not mean only military control, but a civilian presence - communities, agriculture, fields, vegetables, schools, synagogues and in short: rebuilding Gush Katif. The land cries out for its sons to return. Any other solution is like putting on a band-aid to treat cancer."
Attached are some pictures of youth preparing the Women in Green packages for the soldiers and happy soldiers receiving the packages. On each bag a sticker with a special prayer was attached, blessing the soldiers.
