The yearly conference of the unique Kiryat Arba Hevron Teachers seminary (branch of Efrata College) headed by Rabbi Chananel Etrog , and managed by Yehudit Katsover, was held yesterday at the OzveGaon Forest, established at the Gush Etzion junction in memory of the three boys who were abducted and murdered, Gil-Ad, Eyal and Naftali hy"d
The conference that was held in preparation for the High Holiday of Yom Kippur was attended by hundreds of students of the program and women from the area.
Speakers were rabbi Dov Lior of Kiryat Arba Hevron, Rabbi Chananel Etrog head of the program and Rosh Yeshiva of Shavei Hevron, Rabbi Yossef Zvi Rimon, Rabanit Idit Itzkovitz and Rabbi David Metuki.
The attached arutz article summarizes Rabbi Rimon's uplifting shiur about shemitta and about how we should relate to shemitta with holiness and happiness and not with fear.
"In our generation it is a privilege to be able to live and keep the laws of shemitta after 2000 years of Diaspora when these laws were irrelevant" says Rabbi Rimon. Rabbi Rimon called upon all families in Israel not to fear shemitta but rather to relate to this special year as a year of holiness in which we remember that G-d gave us this Land, it is our duty to keep and safeguard it. Rabbi Rimon also emphasized the additional qualities of shemitta- a year of special unity and spirituality among the Jewish people, a year of caring for eachother in general and for the farmers in particular. Shemitta has an influence on our midot too. As shemitta teaches us the value of giving and caring for your fellow Jew, it teaches us to also implement these middot in our daily life, with our family and in society.
Rabbi Rimon spoke about the different projects he has organized to make shemitta understandable and special to all. All details can be found on his website.
The entire conference was organized and managed by Yehudit Katsover, principal of the Unique Kiryat Arba Hevron Teachers seminary who spoke about the amazing unity among the Jewish People this past summer, starting from the abduction of the boys till the support of all for the IDF soldiers during the war and till today.
