[nashimbyarok-WIG] Moving morning in Shdema-בוקר מרגש בשדמה

Shdema Memorial Service Marking The 1 Year Anniversary Of The Late Esther Karish

The memorial service marking the 1 year anniversary of the late Esther Karish, one of the leaders and veterans of the Jewish communities in Samaria, was held in Shdema, Gush Etzion.

Among the participants were MK Orit Struck, educator Sarah Eliash and dozens of supporters of the Jewish communities.

The memorial service marking the 1 year anniversary, commemorating and honoring the figure and actions of the late Esther Karish, one of the leaders and veterans of the Jewish communities in Samaria, was held yesterday (Friday, April 4th 2014) in the Israeli Cultural Center in Shdema, Gush Etzion.

The event, which included the participation of dozens of supporters of the Jewish communities and admirers of Karish Z"L, began with Yehudit Katsover, one of the heads of Women in Green, who mentioned the words of R. Yitzchak Ginsburgh regarding the 4th Son in the Haggadah, the Son who does not know how to ask, the least known and defined of the 4 Sons. This Son is essentially the "indifferent Son", and this indifference must be avoided. "Esther Karish's actions and unique personality were the antithesis of this indifference", said Katsover.

Educator Sarah Eliash spoke of the contributions of women throughout the struggle for the Land of Israel. In her comments she mentioned figures such as Esther Horwitz, of the Rivlin family, who was a significant part of the operation to leave the walls [of the Old City of Jerusalem] and establish the new Jewish community of Jerusalem, as well as several other female figures. Eliash pointed out the unique point of view the women who led the vision in the general, long term sense had, as well as the detail-oriented, day-to-day perspective.

Among the speakers was MK Orit Struck, who determined that Shdema, the site where the ongoing struggle to preserve the Jewish continuity between Jerusalem and Eastern Gush Etzion is being held, as well as the flagship for the issue of holding on to the Land of Israel, is the most appropriate place to mark the 1 year anniversary of the late Esther Karish's and commemorate her figure.

MK Struck continued and addressed contemporary current affairs, describing what she defined as the "standing on the hind legs" of her fellow party members against the 4th round of releasing terrorists. Struck even added that she regrets that her party did not act this way in the 1st round, which might have prevented the release of the terrorists who have been released so far.

Esther's daughter, Hodaya, told of the difficulties of the immigration to and settling of the Kedumim lands, in the early days of the establishment of Jewish communities. Musician Ora Baranes, of the Uri Zvi Greenberg House, accompanied the entire event with musical compositions, including one of Uri Zvi Greenburg's songs which she had composed.

Towards the end of the event, Nadia Matar, one of the heads of Women in Green, updated the participants regarding the letter which was sent to several MKs, calling to take advantage of the collapse of the peace talks with the Palestinians in order to present the Zionist, politically obvious alternative of applying Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria. In addition, she informed them about the "porches campaign", which is expected to begin on the Eve of Passover, and invited them to join in, take home banners calling for the establishment of sovereignty over Judea and Samaria, and prepare to hang them up on porches and windows all over the country.

The entire event was concluded with a touching tree-planting ceremony, conducted by Esther Karish's grandchildren.
